How can I motive DH's grown sons to leave our house?

They are both in their early 20s with no jobs and no hobbies except drinking beer. They stay up all night long, wake our DD and sleep all day long in various locations thru-out our house.

I am not wanting to be ugly, but these boys need to get a life and stop their "partying". DH will never make them leave and never says a word to them; they can do no wrong in his eyes.

What is a good way to motivate these grown men to move out and make a life for themselves?

  • Tell them they have 30 days to get jobs. Rent is now due on the first of the month. What incentive do they have to move forward? They can party all night sleep all day. Shower when they want. Pay no rent, buy no groceries. Probably phone and cable at their beck and call. Let them know the land of 'freeride' is finished. Charge them a modest rent, some portions of the groceries. Let them know If they want to stay up all night they can get their own place. Let them know. It's a new day and Mom is ready to whoop butt and take names...Hmmm think I have grown sons?..lol

  • make them pay rent and buy their own foods, charge them for water they use, electricty, and other utilities, either they'll continue to live there paying rent, or they'll move somewhere else and have the same bills

  • OP - See I need to go about it another way cause DH would never charge them rent or anything like that. I guess I need a reverse psychology solution. I need to motivate them to leave WithOut them realizing it; if they do, then they will only make things worse.

  • Use reverse Psychology on your DH and make him want to kick them out. Give him a reason to want his sons on their own. :-)  Women can have a very good way off coercing our men into doing things they normally would not do. :-)

  • they are grown. forget the reverse psychology. tell your husband that he needs to tell them to get their grown asses out. they should not be a burden on your hands. its your house just as much as it is your husbands. they are not doing anything constructive, so time to go.

  • He loves his sons and obviously doesn't care if they ever leave. There is nothing wrong with that. But he should motivate them to get jobs.

  • They wanna be kids, treat them like kids. Give them a curfew and a bedtime. Give them chores. Soon, they won't be able to get out fast enough.
