For Catholics- what is a feast day when it pertains to Saints?

What are you suppose to do on a feast day?

  • Feast day is a day to commorate a sacred mystery, a religious historical event or someone in heaven. So in relation to a saint it's about remembering the life of someone who is in heaven with God. It's more than just honoring someone in heaven - it's also about remember the type of life this saint lead and how they can be an example for us.

  • Remember that saint, and ask them to pray for you. Remember the good things they did, and acknowledge it. More devout catholics may do more, but I grew up Catholic and we didn't really celebrate feast days or saint days. The biggest thing I can remember is the Feast of the 3 Kings after New Years, but I think we just went to church on that day.
