Do you think dogs start to look like their owners or did orginally?

I have a neighbor that has a dog and its facial features are similar to hers. There is an expression that goes something like this: people choose animals that look like them or they start to look like them. Do you agree?

  • Hehehe, I think it's sometimes true. We had a cocker spaniel when I was a teenager, and my brown hair with blonde highlights matched her hair pretty well.

  • Without conciously being egotistical, most people have a pretty good idea what their good points are and consider those points attractive, so naturally they consider a pet that has those features attractive and pick it for their companion animal.

  • I think,me,and my sheltie look alot alike,we both are short, and chubby, our hair is almost the same color, most of all,we both have big mouths alike,I talk allthe time, and she barks all the time.I did not choose her because, she looked like me,it just turned out that way.

  • They start to look alike, just like married couples. I think it's just an association thing.

  • I recently read that we tend to pick mates who do NOT look like us...an instinct to prevent inbreeding!

  • LOL, yeah I think its true. The same as a couple, once you've been together so long you start to look alike
