  • I'd go by the three day rule- after three days throw it out. To get around that, freeze it before three days.

    3 days is a great rule for anything meat based or previously frozen.

    Remember to bring completely to a boil or temp at 185 to kill any nasties that have hopped on board!

  • I don't leave anything opened for more than 3 days in my refrigerator except for condiments that have lots of preservatives! I'm a bit of a food safety fanatic lol!

  • A tip idea: freeze left over sauces in ice cube trays, so if you need just a little flavor for a soup or stir-fry you can just use one cube. After frozen, put into baggies. Also a great idea for home made baby food, single servings. We froze blended soups for our DD and added rice to it.
