Why is Korean rice in many Korean restaurants so sweet and tasty? Is it the rice or is there an additive to the rice?

  • They add simple syrup to it in restaurants. That's why it is sweet. Ask them when you go next time!

  • We use Calrose rice. It is a short rice grain with a glucose starch that allows the rice to stick together. Sometimes some people will add Mirin to rice like in Sushi rolls which is the sweet flavor also.
