Kim really, really wants kids (and even has their names all picked out). Until then, she fills her time with writing, frequent trips to the farmers' market, photography, watching The Gilmore Girls on DVD over and over again, following discussion in the Trying to Conceive group, and cooking delicious treats for her husband and canine.
Thought Bubble: "Seeing "New Moon" tonight!"

I adore Sandra Lee, the host of Semi-Homemade Cooking With Sandra Lee and Sandra's Money Saving Meals on the Food Network. Her recipes and decorating ideas are so creative—seriously, how does she come up with this stuff?—but still accessible for families on a budget. I was really excited about getting the opportunity to speak with her last week and ask her if she had any last-minute Thanksgiving tips. Here's what Sandra had to say:

On the heels of this week's mammogram controversy comes new guidelines for cervical cancer screening from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In a nutshell, here's what it says: Women should delay their first Pap test until age 21, and be screened less often than recommended in the past.
Is anyone else concerned that all these new recommendations are suggesting LESS—not more—cancer screening for women?

Remember a few weeks back when I was freaking out about making Thanksgiving dinner for my whole family and, more specifically, the stuffing?
Well, since then I've been trying recipes, and I think I found my favorite: Cranberry-Cornbread Stuffing (using the Skillet Cornbread I made earlier this week). It's a Martha Stewart recipe, but I've added a special, secret ingredient.

We weren't the only ones who were upset this week after a government task force announced that most women in their 40s should no longer get routine mammograms; instead, it recommended that regular breast cancer screening start at age 50.
Women (and their doctors) across the country—including here on CafeMom—were confused and uneasy about this dramatic shift in approach to breast cancer detection.
That's why I was so relieved to read despite the new mammogram advice, Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is telling women to "don't change what you do."

How adorable are these Turkey Cookies from Serious Eats? The little guy in the middle looks terrified of being gooble-goobled up!
Do you have an easy, no-bake dessert idea for Thanksgiving?

Happy One Pot Wednesday!
Last night Mr. Cafe Kim made me one pot Pork and Pepper Goulash from one of my favorite cookbooks, Jamie At Home, by Jamie Oliver. This comforting stew was a definite mood-lifter after my long, dreary day of cold and rain. I'm all too happy to share the recipe with you...
