Does having two make you a better person?
Twins run in my family. My mother's sisters are twins, and there are so many sets of twins on my dad's side (both fraternal and identical) that I can't count them. I always dreamed of the day that my twins would be in the big twin photo that we take at our family reunion. The problem is, as much as I wanted to, I didn't have twins. And apparently they are a real status symbol these days. Angelina has them and so does J-Lo—Cafe Kristen has them too (and she's super cool!). But a lot of other women want twins for reasons that seem, well, kind of shallow.
According to Page Six Magazine, these are some of the reasons women in New York want twins:
1. You get noticed more when you have two babies in your stroller.
2. When you do IVF, it's like getting two for the price of one.
3. You get your body back faster—no need to get pregnant again when you have two at once.
4. They're trendy—all the cool people have them.
5. Everyone will know you're rich—because you can afford two kids in this economy.
I'd still love to have twins, but what do you think of all this? Did you want twins? Did you have them?

Didn't want twins at all as I was a young mother but my now 3 1/2 year old twins are absolutley fantastic and I enjoy every minute of each day with them. They have a 14 month old little sister and I absolutley love having the three of them! Although my twins are close to their little sister, the bond is nowhere near as strong as it is between the two of them. Amazing x
Not only am I twice as cool having twins, I am also twice as tired, twice as broke and twice as loved. :)
I was born a twin, and I have two sets of twins. Oddly enough, I HATE the attention that goes with it, LOL We have the only sets in our township (we live in a very rural area now) and sometimes it's kind of maddening. A trip to Wally world usually turns into a Q&A session of sorts. When we're out and about in the City, we get the ever-popular fertility question more times than I'll ever admit.
Deep down I do feel kind of special though. I love how close Ari and Breezy are, and I know AJ and Lily will be just as close. Also, I get to do something twice, that some don't get to do at all. =)
I just love the title, it made me laugh!! I couldn't handle twins, my uterus specializes in creating wild, unorthodox, exceedingly loud boisterous little people, two at once would be more than I could manage!!
I had three young children, ages 8, 4 and 2 when I discovered I was pregnant with twins. I always thought God had more faith in me than I did. When the others went off to school, the twins were company to each other and the other children learned early to help out. As much as they are argue from time to time, don't attempt to come between any of them as they will quickly join forces.
I agree that twins don't make you necessarily "cool" but it was interesting watching them grow up and realizing they are two different individuals that just look alike.
Well, I'm currently expecting twins and I don't think its cool at all!!!! I'm scared to death!!! I already have a 6, 4, and 2 year old and I have no idea how I'm going to manage it all. Maybe if I could afford to hire a nanny I would think its cool? I don't know. There is some novelty to it. And you do get a lot of attention. But I have a feeling that the attention that I need, HELP, is going to be sorely lacking once the babies actually come. Its nice to ooh and aah at a set of twins babies but for the mom, its motherhood only twice as hard. Anyone that would chose to have twins for the reasons stated above is, in my opinion, a bit off their rocker. I'm grateful for my babies. So far, they are healthy and this has been my best pregnancy, but there is some hard work ahead. I'm not sure how "cool" that is.
I have twins, and I still get the gawks when they realize they are twins. We would have troubles getting through the store. I do think because of fertility treatments they are not as special or unque as they once were. As cute as they are though, they are twice the work at first. Can you imagine 2 babies crying, but at different times. I honestly didn't sleep much of the first 3 months until I got them on a schedule, then my daughter's reflux got so bad she wouldn't sleep. ooh dreamy huh? Now that they are older they are fun, and watching the differences in personality and development is a lot of fun.
I was surprised when I found out I was having twins 6 years ago. Twins don't run in my family and they don't run in my ex's family. I had hoped I would have a boy and a girl but I didn't realize that I would have them at the same time. They are a blessing!

Those reasons make so sense to me. I'm pregnant with twins. I only wanted one baby!! Lol. But here's why I'M excited; first, my son will get to be a big brother; second, twins are known to share a special bond, and I think that's a beautiful thing.
