New Mom Secrets: I Let My Baby Wear a Dirty Diaper

February 3, 2009 at 9:03 AM by Cafe Suzanne - Comments (155)

don't change dirty diaperIt's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets—we won't tell.

This Week's Secret:

"I don't change my baby's diaper during the night—I'm too tired. In the morning it's always filled with pee or poop, or both. He's getting an awful diaper rash, but I lied to the pediatrician saying I didn't know why his bum was all red. Sometimes if he cries a lot, my boyfriend will change his diaper while I pretend to be asleep." —anonymous

Wow! Wake up and save your baby's behind.  While your sleeping peacefully he's getting a painful and uncomfortable rash.  Does that make sense to you.  It only takes a minute.

We all do things that we no we should not or might be taking a risk, but I think this is wrong because your child IS getting a rash and you know it was wrong enough to lie about it. Sorry.

Not okay. :o(

A rash is not only uncomfortable but it can HURT! How could someone listen to their baby cry in pain and not respond?!?!

no it's not ok. especially since his/her little butt is now sore. use destin creamy overnight relief when my kids do get a diaper rash (very rare when they do) it clears up very fast.

And this post right here is why some parents need to take a test to be parents.  This is abuse, especially if you are lying to his dr so you can get some sleep.  When you become a parent, it ceases to be about you and what you need and starts to become about what your child needs.

Stuff like this makes me cringe.

Jessy...

I think it's irresponsible.  If you don't feel like getting up to change a crappy diaper you don't deserve to have children...that's part of being a parent.  How would you like to sleep in your own poop?

katie...

Wow.  That is pretty selfish.  Wait till you are in the nursing home, and your nurse ignores you when you have gone in your adult diaper.  Karma is a b*tch.  :)

If the baby is crying get up and tend to him. If you think that is too much trouble bring him to bed with you, diapers, wipes and a bottle on the night stand and you barely have to open your eyes and you will all get back to sleep.

just change the damn diaper.. then you wont have to listen to the baby cry and you can sleep better that way. besides how can you sleep knowing that your baby is in pain?
