Thank you to RanaAurora for alerting us to this new baby product...
Babyglow are baby pajamas that change colors if your baby is running a temperature. How do they work?
The pajamas come in pink, blue, and green and all turn white as soon as the baby's temperature rises about 98 degrees. The color change alerts parents if their baby has a fever and is ill.
(Interesting side note: The father who invented this product recently signed a $20 million contract with a manufacturer to take Babyglow global.)
Color-changing PJs will be available in October and priced at $33 for a pack of two.
What do you think? Would you invest in color-changing PJs or would a non-invasive thermometer work just as well?
Hey, they had shirts like this back in the 90's that changed colors in the heat. Not a new idea. Cool that he made it into baby pjs though. I doubt I would buy them though...like another poster said...I'm in Texas, the pjs would be white all the time. Plus, my kids are always hot natured and sweat easily. I don't even want to know how much they cost.
My DD's natural temp has always run around 99 degrees, as does mine so these would be useless for us.
no thanks. i dont really see the need. most moms are in tune enough with their kids that they know when to check if they have a fever.
I agree with CuriousSarahM. I live in Texas as well, and just taking our son outside, even just on the back patio, can make his body temperature rise. Heck, I'm an adult and it makes mine rise. These would always give false alarms. With kids, it's best to do it the old fashioned way ... a thermometer.
I'm glad you guys put these up! I thought they were really weird.
I wouldn't buy them, or if I did, it'd be just for amusement purposes rather than diagnostic. Go to the webpage and read the comments... people act like you'd never know your baby was sick without this life-saving invention!
I think it's a great idea and would be useful more for if the baby is too hot, more than sick. I'd never pay that much for them, though. I'll watch for signs and use a thermometer, lol. Neat concept, though!
i think that is a really cool idea to put the fabric into baby pajamas(or however they do it) i WOULD buy them/want them, my daughter HATED foot jamies though, so wouldnt of worked, but i would like to have had them i had a really hard time remembering to take her temp, sick or not and was curious on occasion if she did have a temp, a couple nights we were snowed in at parents house, they didnt have a thermometer(they had just moved) and was curious, these would have probly help me not worry about her as much, or start unpackin her boxes like crazy to find on, since i didnt bring one. wouldnt use them as a "has a fever or not" type thing, just a confirmation maybe?!?!

Although I think it's a cool idea, I live in Texas where it gets, and stays, very hot. So I'm afraid if I were to let my baby wear them, it would constantly be giving me a false alarm. After all, when he nurses, it gets hot, he and I are almost always both all sweaty after a meal, even if we're in a cool place.
