Yikes, the Lil Sugar bit about solids has tons of bad information.

The Babble thing: "There's better evidence now, and it's pretty clear that the risks of avoiding fish are greater than risks of mercury poisoning. We know what happens when babies don't get enough DHA [an omega-3 essential fatty acid found in fish oils] — the eye and brain don't develop properly."  Seriously?  That's HIDEOUS advice.  You can get Omega 3s from SAFE sources and mercury poisoning is a HUGE deal.

The biological readiness signs are sitting up unassisted, ability to put food in their own mouth, having teeth, has no tongue-thrust reflex, and shows interest and mimics your eating. Unlike one of the articles says, solids should not override liquid nutrition for AT LEAST the first year.

my daughter has been eating baby food since 5 months. she was started early because she was drinking way too much milk. now, she will eat anything. i make my own baby food for lunch and dinner. i usually use last night's leftovers. i always have leftovers in my fridge and i cook pretty healthy so it works and she likes it way better then the baby food from a jar. i do still feed her the size 3 fruits and she still gets baby cereal, but she is tiny and needs to pack on some weight so i am feeding her all i can while i can, and the doctor said that making my own baby food would add more calories to her diet. she's almost 1 and is 16lbs.
