In my opinion, there's not much else that's better than a sleeping baby.

Thank you to RanaAurora for alerting us to this new baby product...

As the temperatures climb this summer, we'll be looking for any and all ways to keep cool and comfortable. But is air conditioning safe for your baby? I know some moms are wondering if the cold air could cause a chill or even asthma later in life...

Hi, everyone! It's Cafe Melisa stopping by for a visit....
I was pretty lucky. Both of my babies started sleeping through the night around six or seven weeks. Not reliably, not every night -- but they did it once or twice and then we knew they could.
Especially with the first baby, getting several hours of uninterrupted sleep just felt like the most amazing gift.

It's hard being a new mom (or even an experienced mom to a new baby) and sometimes we do things we know we shouldn't, despite what all the experts say. But this is a safe place to share your secrets—we won't tell.
This Week's Secret:
"I screamed at my 8-month-old to 'shut the f-bomb up.' She cried all night long and wouldn't go to sleep. I feel so guilty and I'm worried that when she's older she'll remember these early days and she'll think I was always angry." —anonymous

photo from The Zaky
The Zaky is an ergonomic infant pillow that mimics the
size, weight, touch, and feel of a parent's hand and forearm. It's supposed to help keep your baby calm and help him sleep through the night.

Parents magazine surveyed 13,000 new mothers and found that 60 percent want more sleep; one-third get less than six hours of sleep a night; and the sleepiest
group is moms of newborns. That sounds about right.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that babies be put to sleep on their backs because research shows it helps reduce the risk of SIDS. And ever since pediatricians have told moms to put babies on their backs SIDS deaths have indeed declined. The AAP also says that side sleeping is not the same as back sleeping and it's not advised. However, babies do need to spend time on their bellies so their muscles develop properly, but tummy time should take place only when the baby is awake and someone is watching them.
Okay, so we all know that's what we're supposed to do. But what do you really do?

Hi, Cafe Melisa dropping by Baby Buzz today....
Naptime is a beautiful thing, isn't it? Growing babes need sleep to re-charge (and here's some info on how many naps baby should have and how often), but the down-time is pretty key for mom, too. Quiet! Time to yourself! Yesss.
The one down-side? You're stuck in the house.

There's a lot of discussion on CafeMom about CIO or Crying It Out. Some moms find it very useful for getting their little one to sleep. Other moms think "it's so stupid."
Just what is CIO and why do moms have such strong feelings on the subject? I'll be talking to two moms—one who uses CIO and one who doesn't—to get their takes on this method of getting your baby to sleep at night.
Today, meet ivansmom07 and see what she has to say about CIO.
