A weekly post to help us get to know some of our CafeMom cuties ...
Who: Luke Edward, 5 1/2 months old, son of amw529. He was born on June 3 and didn't want to come out. I was due May 26, but he decided to stay in there. I ended up having a C-section since even with inducing he didn't budge. The doctor made the cut and there he was looking up at them like, "Who, me?"
How long does he sleep at night?
He's been sleeping since mid-July through the night after his 10 p.m. bottle through to his 7:30 am bottle. Sometimes when I'm taking him to day care at 6:15 a.m., he'll wake up for a little while, but he usually falls back asleep in the car.

Yesterday I asked moms when their babies gave up the second nap. tairest said her baby still takes two naps, but they are only 40 minutes each, and she'd much prefer her daughter take one long nap.
What about you? If you had your way ...

When my kids were babies, there were two times of the day that I lived for -- my husband coming home from work to relieve me and naptime.
I still remember the day that each of my kiddos dropped their naps completely -- my son was about 3 and my daughter was 1 1/2 -- ACK! That was a dark day ...

Who: Lucas Kenneth, 11 months old, son of MadsMom04. When Lucas was born via c-section, he was screaming so loud. My husband I were laughing so hard we were crying.
How long does he sleep at night?
He sometimes sleeps through the night, and he takes two, two-hour naps during the day.
What makes him smile?
His big sister!

Maybe you've already made the decision to co-sleep with your baby. But other moms who will be putting their new babies in their own beds often wrangle with what's better -- a bassinet, a cradle, or straight to the crib.
But with a newborn the crib just seems so ... big. Not cozy at all. At least that's the way I felt.
KaetlinC was even wondering if it's safe to put a newborn straight in the crib.
Tons of moms in the Advice for Moms thread said they put their babies into the crib from day one with no problem. It is perfectly safe as long as the crib is safe (in good condition; without gaping slats that can catch a head or limb; no bumpers, pillows, loose blankets or stuffed animals) and you plug in a baby monitor if the crib is in another room.

A weekly post to help us get to know some of our CafeMom cuties ...
Who: Joseph Anthony, 1 year, son of nily. When I was 35 weeks pregnant I had an accident and fell on the sidewalk, landing on my very preggo belly. Because of that he was born premature through emergency c-section and spent seven days in the NICU. He weighed 5 lbs, 10 oz and measured 19 inches. Joseph defeated all odds of a rough start, so I'm very proud of him. To me he is a warrior. Right now he has no sign of any delay. He does everything a full-term baby does.

CafeMom JMB4Evr posted in 20 Somethings (a private group) that she swaddled her 1 year old the other day! Just one of those cute, funny things you feel like sharing.
Her little girl was fussy and refused to take a nap. JMB4Evr was so desperate to get her to sleep that she grabbed the pink blanket and wrapped her baby up like a cigar. No joke, as soon as she finished, her daughter fell fast asleep.
For sure, this wouldn't work with every 1 year old. One mom said her little ones would have a fit, and another mom guaranteed she'd end up with bite marks on her arm if she tried that.
Hmm ... this story made me wonder if a baby is ever too old to swaddle. When I was poking around for the answer, I found a lot of moms who want to break baby of the swaddling habit. The crutch can become a bit tedious for mom.

In case you forgot, most of the country will be turning the clocks back for daylight savings time this Saturday night. Because we're "falling back," that means an extra hour of sleep for mom, yay! Oh ... wait. We have babies. Forget what I said about extra sleep.
But some moms want to know if it's at all possible to adjust baby's sleep schedule this weekend so everyone is on the same page. A slightly varied sleep schedule might not be a big deal if you're a stay-at-home mom, but it's a huge issue for working moms who have to stick to the new schedule.
Here's some suggestions moms shared in Answers:

Those infant car seat carriers are a godsend in so many ways. Can you imagine having to wake and unstrap your sleeping baby every time you to run into the grocery store for a gallon of milk, wisk your older child into day care, or all those other little in-and-outs we do all day?
Even though the experts say you shouldn't let a baby sleep in the carseat when not in the car, they still will a good portion of the time.
The last thing you need is a sore back, so here are some do's and don'ts from ergomomics.com to help you carry your infant's seat the right way:
DO's
When carrying the seat short distances, support it on your bent elbow (using biceps) and keep it close to your center of gravity, OR

Your new baby will do all sorts of things that delight you, as well as all sorts of things that will just scare you to death. A lot of them may be perfectly normal, new baby things that you just never knew about or expected. But some things might be more serious. Case in point: One mom in Newcomer's said her 8 week old forgets to breathe every once in a while.
"He takes a huge breath and makes a noise and the same face he makes if water drips on his face in the tub (which I heard is because babies automatically hold their breath)," says mrsjedwards. "Today he did it while he was sleeping sucking on a binky. He woke up startled, making the face and taking a huge breath."
mitch576 believes this is sleep apnea. It's actually common and treatable, but her now 6 year old, weighing only 34 pounds, almost died of this. As long as you recognize it, you'll be fine. So if you spot this in your newborn, mitch576 says you need to:
