Should a Mom Have Pink Hair?

I've dyed my naturally dark brown hair a few colors -- it's been various shades of purple, jet black, cherry red, deep berry, and I also once had big pieces bleached blonde. I used to use Manic Panic -- Deadly Nightshade was my favorite.

I've been sticking with the dark brown lately -- my big goal for hair dye now is to cover my greys. But I do love to see funky colors on hair.

Lots of celebrities have played with color -- ladies from Gwen Stefani to Rachel McAdams (seen here) have added some pink to their locks.

Can a mom who isn't a celebrity have pink hair?

Twenty-three year-old bestmommyeber wanted to know if she was too old for pink hair.
She was thinking of just dying the tips pink, but she was afraid she wasn't going to be taken seriously if she did.

Most CafeMoms thought she should go for it. desert_diva says, "I'm 39 and my hair is a different crazy color combination every month! I get tons of compliments on it from all different types of people. You're only too old if you feel too old!"

Anonymous commented that if she was worried she could just get pink hair clips to pin in -- so it's just pink when she wants it to be.

And when I interviewed crazedmom for a mom style feature, she showed off her cool blue streaks -- a hair paint she puts on during the weekends to mix it up a bit.

bestmommyeber also posted a poll asking if she should do pink streaks in her hair or not and the last time I checked, 73 percent said to go for it! campomommy even offered to go pink with her!

What do you think? Should a mom have pink hair?

I Have a snakebite (two piercings in my bottom lip), My mom thinks its tacky but all her teacher friends think its cute with little studs. **INDIVIDUALITY is ok. I want my daughter to know that, which is why she likes some of the funky stuff I do with my hair as well =)~

I say "Go for it!" andwear with confidence! My hair was electric pink when I married my husband in Germany. Hey, that was my style at the time. No regrets.

Absolutely!!  Who cares what color somebody's hair is. I think we should be able to do whatever we want with out hair.  Show your personal style and work it ;)

I'm over 40 and dye my hair violet.  Granted, it's not bleached down then colored, but colored over the dark brown.  In dark rooms my hair looks black, but when the light hits it right, it simply glows violet.  I love it and at my age, even if people don't like it, they respect my panache -- I don't look like every other suburban mom out there!

Joran...

I, personally think if you are in your twenties its ok.  I would not do it any older.  I have four boys and they were horrified at the thought of me coloring my hair one of the more "unusual" colors.  Its a matter of personal taste ultimately.

First of all you're 23 and that's young. You can't help it if you have gray hair. Let's look at who you are and not so much concern about what other people think for the moment. The question comes to mind is are you working outside of the home and if so what does your company says. We all are individuals but rules play a big part on the job. If it's ok with them then go for it. We all want to support each no matter what. Don't feel that someone else has to be happy for you unless your child has a problem with it. I also agree with Joran1025, don't do it pass your twenties. Really to be honest about it since I've been out here longer than you and have heard kids talk. Don't do it pass 26. Young children doesn't mind but any child older than 10 does. They get teased by other kids. Hopefully yours won't. You only live once in life.
