My bestie Melody, who so often has allowed me to use her photos and stories here (she was the "ugly sweater party" model), is getting married in July. So exciting! We had a girls day out last weekend and she was telling me about the wedding rings she's been eyeing. Her engagement ring is stunning! It's an European cut diamond ring from the 1920s and her soon-to-be hubby bought it at Doyle & Doyle in NYC. They have gorgeous jewelry -- I love the diamond and moonstone heart rings featured above.

In her travels, Melody heard from some chic jewelers that there is a new trend in wedding rings -- lots of ladies are going with stackable rings, sometimes even five small bands, maybe one or two with a stone, instead of the traditional.

wedding ringI love this idea! But I think I just love all wedding ring ideas -- big, small, diamonds, no diamonds, red gems, green gems, gold, silver, small, big -- they are all beautiful because it's about the meaning behind it. Here's a photo of my ring (at right). It looks a lot like my Grandma's ring that I loved so much. Mr. Cafe MicheleZ did so good. I'd love another band like this for Valentine's Day...hint hint. Or how nice would that moonstone ring be? Oh to dream!

I know CafeMoms love to talk about and show off their rings, too. I've gotten "lost" reading posts about this. Here are just a few that have great photos:

Tell me about your ring. And tell the truth...do you think size matters?

In my opinion, I think the woman should get whatever she wants -- it's all about love.

I think it depends on the woman. I'm not much for diamonds and showy stuff. My hubby gave me a pearl engagement ring, with a few small diamonds and then we got a small wedding ring to match later. It's perfect for me. Eventually we want to get matching tattoo rings, so to each their own!

I don't wear my wedding rings. They are set in yellow gold and are diamonds. I prefer my Celtic band. I rotate various rings to wear with it. Green amethyst, moonstone, topaz. Depends on my mood. I want what I wear to be a reflection of me, not what was the trend at the time.

my hubby let me pick out my ring before he proposed...I tried on a few and really liked the way the pear shape looked on my finger...it's a 1/2 ct diamond in a gold setting. my wedding band and hubby's band match, just gold w/decorative ridges along the sides. size does not matter, if it did I would've gotten a full ct or more, lol. I like that my ring isn't too big, nor too small, it fits me and my personality perfect. it's just a simple pear diamond..nothing else, didn't wanna get anything flashy.

Personally, I don't like big diamonds for me.  My ring is small and simple, and I wouldn't have it any other way!  In fact, when we went to pick out rings, my DH was looking at bigger rings than what I was looking at.  We ended up with a smaller ring that I fell in love with!

My wedding band is a simple white gold band that I got for $50.  My engagement ring...I don't really have one.  Justin bought me a ring with a Cape May Diamond (they look read once they are cut, I'm sure you can google it) in it since we are big beach bums, but the stone fell out.  I went and spent $10 on a nice looking (but fake) ring that I wear as my engagement ring, sometimes.

Size doesn't matter, love is what matters.

Hell no.  What matters is the meaning.  Also, if you afford a nice one, what YOU think is pretty is more important that how much it cost.  That's just shallow.

My wedding ring (and my husband's) is a silver puzzle ring. We spent less than 150 on them, but I love them. No one else has them, and they reflect both of our personalities. I will admit, though, I wish I had an engagement ring. Someday I'll make him buy me one, but something small. Huge rings just aren't me.

My wedding band is a hand made one that my husband had made for me (along with one for himself) 12 years after we got married. Each ring cost $5 and we still have them 11 years later. I am a simple person with simple tastes, flashy doesn't impress me.

madam...

Size SHOULDN'T matter, lol.

I, personally, don't like huge diamond engagement rings. I have small hands and chubby fingers, so any single stone would look a bit 'tarded on me. I like things with pave type work...I guess more vintagey looking rings. I've also been looking lately and I'm drawn to round and pear shape diamonds. Oh but anyways...

No, size shouldn't matter. It will never matter to me. It ought to be about the sentiment and meaning of the ring.

Yes, I think size does matter.  When you look a the size of a diamond per say, you get a general idea of the income that person makes.  If you can afford it, why not buy a big nice diamond ring?  Every girl deserves to get the best.  I'm not a simple girl and i love beautiful jewelry but that doesn't mean i'm shallow.   I would never expect my husband to buy me expensive jewelry if it would bankrupt us..
