Flats! I Wear Them Now

combat bootsThere was nothing that was going to take my heels away from me. Nothing, I thought. Sure, the heels weren't always three-inches, but there was always a heel. Two inches were low to me.

Nothing...until I hit my third trimester of pregnancy. And it had to take that for me to understand the hype and get over my snobbery of flats.

I've said this before -- flats look great on others. But on me, they felt weird, didn't look good, even hurt my feet.

It's kind of like when I was back in the 80s and had huge hair. Huge is an understatement. It was so difficult for me to transition to a flat hairstyle. I thought flat hair looked ridiculous on me when, in fact, it was the other way around. Oh gotta love the 80s. (Not!)

But now that my feet are swollen, my balance is off, and heels are just out of the question, I bought a couple of pairs of flat boots. Shoes that will be more appropriate when I am running around the playground with my twins someday.

fake Uggs I bought the combat boot looking pair from Piperlime. How cute is the plaid lining on the inside?

The "fuggs" are my fake Uggs from Payless. And yes, I think they are kind of ugly on me, but they are super comfy so I am putting vanity aside. My mom thinks the sweater kind like these are the cutest. Cafe Kim likes them, too. And Cafe Kim would look cute in anything.

What heel height do you usually wear? Do you wear flats, too?

I used to wear heels all the time before our son, now it's flats. Heels for very dressed up occasions but its hard carring a baby and trying to walk in heels I think, I'm always too scared of falling.

Lumin...

flats hurt my feet too.. my doctor says its because of my arch, but I suspect it also has to do with the fact I've worn heels every day since I was 17! The only flats that work for me are genuine ballet flats because its basically going barefoot. My mom thinks I'm nuts but I wore my heels through both pregnancies too.. I never got the swelling in my legs so I managed to pull it off.. but you guys walk alot more in NY than I ever had to, here you have to drive to get to just about anything.

I really love your fake uggs, I'm gonna look for those tomorrow. I like the sweater looks ones too. I've just recently got into flats too, I had to give up my normal heels when I was preg. Ive had a really hard time getting back to them too.

RanaA...

I don't wear heels.  My sister and I put weight on our feet unevenly (towards the middle, I think) and I also have a slight limp (unnoticable unless you're looking for it) and am SUPPOSED to wear a heel lift... so, heels - TOTALLY out.

Your wanna-be Uggs are cute.  I don't care less about trends, but these sweater-boots just look comfortable, so I've been looking around for some.

madam...

I wear heels when I dress up. I have awfully wide feet (pregnancy made it worse, lol) and so I have to hunt and hunt for heels I can wear that look equally cute on my feet. I love them though, I really do.

I just bought some fake Ugg boots as well (mine are a chocolatey brown suede) and they're nice and warm and cozy. I want some of the sweater kind too but I don't know that I'll get them this year---It will depend on the price, lol.
