Photo from Gap
These Gap ads are everywhere, you know the commercial where they are singing and dancing around and everyone looks all festive yet still casual? Then there's the magazine ad where I think the models are positioned in the shape of a snowflake or something?
Sigh. This ruffle plaid shirt.
Sigh. The marketing apparently works because I really really want one.

The day has finally arrived -- Jimmy Choo's line for H&M hits the stores today.
I'm trying to decide if I should just buy some items now for post-pregnancy because there is no way my piggie feet are fitting into any of those shoes at the moment. And there are clothes and accessories, too -- at H&M prices...not traditional Jimmy Choo (I can't afford them) prices.

During the summer, I bought a really cute tankini bathing suit from Norma Kamali's line sold at Walmart. And last weekend, I hung out with my sister who bought Norma Kamali's Bat Wing Cardigan for just $18.
I want!

We all have different body types, but we don't see stores called Pear Shapes Shop Here or Busty Ladies Clothing Only -- there's one store and all the clothes are lumped in. Which can make it hard to find the right clothes.
Sometimes it gives me a headache trying to find out. And if you are like me, and hate trying on clothes when shopping, it means lots of returns.
InStyle magazine has a feature called Shop Your Shape: Ten Outfits for Day or Night -- and they take some of that guess work out of the shopping equation.
That's good news!

Me & my poncho
Two years ago I purchased this vintage poncho on Etsy for $15. One of my best purchases ever! Inexpensive, super cute, and versatile. No matter how big I get during pregnancy it still fits.
I've always liked ponchos -- the sweater kind, not the plastic rain kind. They have a hippie chic appeal and look really cute with jeans tucked into boots.

I'm having a love/hate with this look.
I love the way it looks on this model showing off clothes from Madewell -- but she has long, thin legs. Oh and that pale yellow cardigan -- I want!
My friend Melody, also long and lean, has worn short with tights and heels and looks amazing. But she looks amazing in everything.
On the other hand, I hate the look because it isn't easy for just anyone to pull off. Namely, me.

I've been coveting a ruffled sweater all fall, and here's why: You could be wearing the most boring, ragged ol' jeans and a t-shirt, but if you slip on a pretty ruffled sweater—Voila! Instant hotness (and I'm not just talking about your temperature).
I love this Italian Merino Wool Ruffle Cardigan in woodsy brown from Victoria's Secret, $78, (except I'd, ahem, wear it with pants). But I've found some less expensive options as well...

I went through my closet this weekend, trying to move the summery items out of the way, and once again looked at my small skirt collection. The last time I cleaned out my closet, I got rid of a few skirts and left the ones I thought I'd wear. But I haven't worn any of them except for one.
It made me realize...I hate skirts.

Since my husband and I have been together, we do some sort of couple Halloween costume theme every year. We've done scary Halloween looks -- I was a dead car hop; he was Bloody Holly -- and we've also done other looks, too.
A few years ago, I was a mental patient who escaped in a straight jacket and he was my arresting officer. We both had bruises and scratches painted on our faces, though I know on me it looks more like something out of an 80s video than bruises. Hee hee.

While it feels like Fall was overlooked for Old Man Winter here in NYC lately, Fall is my favorite season. The colors! The styles! The layers! The boots!
Elle magazine's Creative Director, Joe Zee, put together a guide to my favorite time of year -- Fall A to Zee. Each letter features a trend, showing off clothes, accessories, or beauty products, and whatever else in on trend and falls into the category.
