The holidays are coming! Eek! Where did the second half of this year go?!

For those of you who started shopping already, or want to get a head start, LUSH has some sweet deals (free stuff!!!) for the early bird.

LUSH is one of my favorite bath and body brands -- handmade, organic, fresh, and always yummy smelling. The solid shampoo bars and American Cream conditioner are my favorites. They also make really cool pre-wrapped gift boxes (like the one featured at left) that have a slew of great stuff.

I think I'm going to have to do some shopping. One for me, one for my sister. One for me, one for my mom.

I don't need another store to love. Seriously. H&M came along I don't know how many years ago, and I was hooked. Uniqlo. Mango. Forever 21, Topshop, Zara. Madewell. Anthropologie. Thanks a lot for making cute clothes that I must have.

And now there's a new store called Superdry. Someone needs to take away my credit cards.

I prefer to shop online. Shopping in NYC, although great, can be a real hassle. Too many people, things picked over, not always a good experience. So if I shop online, everything is nice and tidy and delivered right to my house.

Sure, there's that what if it doesn't fit or look good issue, but I tend to shop from places that I know what size works for me and I have returned items through the mail with no issue.

I love plaid. And I don't care if it's in style or out...I think it always looks good. Kind of mod, kind of punk rock yet can be preppy too, always smart, and with a vintage feel.

When I saw this plaid coat at Top Shop, I thought oh please come in my size.

I can't believe how cold it is here in Chicago—and it's not even October yet! This morning on my way out the door to walk the dog, I pulled on my 4-year-old Ugg boots, only to discover the gigantic rip down the seam from heel to mid-calf.

How did I miss that last winter?

Who am I kidding? I want this whole look. It's from Madewell, the store where I look but don't touch. They always give me great style inspiration though.

The scarf and jacket sure would be a nice start. It's getting chilly in NYC (how is it by you?) and I need a little something that isn't so cumbersome, yet still looks good with everything.

I love layering and even though I am afraid to play with color, this look puts it together for me -- multi-color scarf over olive green jacket, over cobalt blue cardigan, over white top. Looks great with jeans and grey booties. The matching white and blue socks peeking out is pretty cute, too.
