It's summer. Let the whining commence. "What can we do? I'm bored. Today is so lame. It's too HO-O-OT outside. Every day is boring day..."
Best to have a creative arsenal of kids' indoor activity ideas to deflect the whining and keep the kids busy when they tire of reading, watching TV and DVDs, doing arts and crafts, playing computer and video games, and torturing their siblings.

I like to work on scrapbooks on hot days. My older girls enjoy being creative. This year I found a great idea for journals. Everyday the girls, (ages 9 and 12) at the end of the day are going to list 3 things that made them happy that day. I think this is a great idea! At the end of the summer when they say "we had no fun this summer" I can pull out their journal and remind them of what they did.
