In these last few days before school starts, are your kids scrambling to finish their summer homework assignments?
Many schools assign reading lists, book reports, and other supplemental homework over summer break. If your kids have left it to the very last minute (I am the queen of procrastination, so I know how tempting this can be), back to school can be a stressful time for kids and parents alike.
Do your kids get summer homework? Do you think these assignments are benefical to your kids? Or do you think they get enough homework during the school year and they should get a break?

A sixth-grader in San Diego was prohibited from presenting her report on gay rights leader Harvey Milk until her classmates got their parents' permission to hear it. (Harvey Milk was one of the first gay men elected to political office in the United States in 1977 when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. The Oscar-nominated movie Milk with Sean Penn chronicled his life.) According to the school district, parental permission was required because the topic dealt with "sex."
