My choice for Weekend Click Flick is Steel Magnolias. I cry if I see a commercial for Steel Magnolias. I am a Texan by birth, raised in a home that served sugared tea and offered you peanuts in your Coca Cola. Nothing is better on a cold day than wrapping up in a blanket and watching a good chick flick.
Steel Magnolias is the story of women friends, played out in a small Southern town. Julia Roberts is the main character and Sally Field plays her mom. The story begins with Roberts' wedding, then carries on through the ups and downs of the friends' lives. How can you go wrong with supporting cast members such as Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis?
Popular blogger Mrs.Fussypants, is a southern girl like me. Allison Worthington (Mrs.Fussypants) loves Steel Magnolias too! Allison is a blogging mom of five who home schools the kiddos while running an online media empire. She's awesome and if you haven't visited her online magazine, Blissfully Domestic, you should check it out.
Here are Allison's favorite quotes from Steel Magnolias, both are from Dolly Parton's character, Truvy Jones:
In a good shoe, I wear a size six, but if a seven feels so good, I buy a size eight.
Time marches on and sooner or later you realize it is marchin' across your face.
I love these quotes! Do you like a good chick flick on a dreary day? If so, what's your favorite? Are you a fan of Steel Magnolias? If so, how many tissues do you go throw watching it?

You know, I never got the appeal of this movie. I think it's annoying. And, uh, born and raised in the south, and been here over 40 years.
@roachiesmom, I have movies/books I feel that way about too! And thanks for commenting from one Southern Mom to another. @kristie190, I seriously do cry at the previews for this movie. Weird but true.
Great movie the best so sad i still cry so hard and sally feild at the funeral was so believable its like she did loose her child . That was the best acting i have ever seen sob fest
I EFFIN LOVED THIS MOVIE! I cry every time Sally Field is in the cemetary. That is the most powerful scene.
LOVE this movie!! I think my favorite line is when Annell came in to the Christmas party all decorated like a tree, and Dukasis's character says "That's what separates us from the animals, the ability to accessorize". Also, when Annell said "I promise my personal tragedy will not interfere with my ability to do good hair". Funny stuff!
And, yes, that cemetery scene is so powerful, SeritaG, you're right. Especially the "laughter through tears".
Oh, I love this movie-- and I'm not even a big fan of "chick flicks"! One of my favorite scenes would have to be at the beginning, when Drum was preparing for the reception by shooting those birds. It aggravated Ms. Weezer so bad; it was just so hilarious!! I also like the scene where Ms. Weezer said, "yes, Annelle, I pray!". Then she tried to make a crack about her church, saying that the congregation probably makes it's new members sacrifice a chicken, to which Annelle replied, "not on your first visit!" Classic!!!! lol!
I loved that movie and it touched my heart. That was the first movie I saw Julia Roberts in. She is a good actress, at least I think so!!!!!
Happy Holidays!!!!
