ACM Awards: Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift Win Big!

Girls ruled Sunday night at the ACM awards! I am so happy!
Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood won the two most prestigious awards at the 44th annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Underwood won entertainer of the year, which hasn't been won by a woman since the Dixie Chicks in 2000, and she also picked up the female vocalist award.

I love these talented performers! These women have incredible voices, and they are both good role models for younger girls. Call me a prude but I think it's refreshing to find young celebrities who aren't making headlines for bad behavior.
Taylor Swift was honored for album of the year for Fearless. She was also surprised with the Crystal Milestone award for selling more albums than any other artist in 2008, for the international success of Love Story.
In an interview with CMT, Carrie Underwood talked about being the first woman to win the entertainer of the year award in nine years:
I can't wait till the day -- which I hope is in the very near future -- when having females in the category is no big deal whatsoever. I would like to say that I accept that award on behalf of myself and my fans, but also I think I have to accept it on behalf of all the other women who came before that kicked butt, that never got the recognition they deserved. And on behalf of all their fans, as well, because [the fans] supported them and loved them, and [the women] never got a chance to be nominated for such an award.

I was surprised that Carrie won for Entertainer of the Year because it's usually dominated by men but the reality is that the win was a long time coming. Carrie has been extremely popular since she debuted so it figures she would win it eventually.
I don't think Taylor has the best singing style (she really needs a vocal coach to teach her how to sing correctly) but I'm happy she won a big award. And it's great that she won the Crystal Milestone award too. I know her album's always towards the top of Billboard but it's great for her to be recognized for it. Good for her. I can't get enough of her song "Love Story."
How many award shows does country music need? It seems like every month they have another one. They seem to need to pat themselves on the back more than any other area of the entertainment industry. It is becoming a joke really.
Well one is for the Fans then they have one from The Billboard top 10, and then they have one that is voted on by theie perirs. But it is the same with the Other styles of music. They have Hip Hop , then BET and then they have one from their Fans.
But if you notice all of them entire change so much that now you do not know which is for which . I love that fact that now every kind of music does admit that all music is important.
