If there were no Sarah Palin, would the media have anything to write about? Doubtful. Now the Alaskan governor is reportedly feuding with David Letterman after he poked fun at her and her family on The Late Show.
Letterman's jokes at Palin's expense included the following:
Palin called the "slutty flight attendant" comment "pathetic," and both she and her husband issued scathing statements in response to the jokes about her daughter. (I thought Letterman was referring to the Palins' 19-year-old daughter, Bristol, but they understood it to be their 14-year-old, Willow.)
According to People.com, Todd Palin said: "Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too."
And, Sarah Palin said: "Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands – that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.'"
What do you think? Did Letterman go too far? Or are the lives of public figures like Alaskan governor Sarah Palin fair game for entertainment purposes?

Getting into a public feud with a comedian who has his own show... geez, wonder who's gonna get the last word? As a politician, she should have known to just take the high ground and not get dragged into it.
Also wondering what indicated he was talking about the younger daughter? I assumed it would be the one who has already had the publicity for getting "knocked up".
Dang! I have GOT to start watching Dave during the week, instead of just on Friday!!!!! I hate I missed this.
And, sorry, Palin started it by being a joke. Dave just ran with it.
Gov. Palin is not a joke. Letterman was lewd ,crude and rude and not funny. Let's see how he would like someone attacking his son. Leave the jokes to the adults.
She was in New York for nothing but a publicity tour. Her publicist called every major media outlet to follow her every move, get ting exposure for her upcoming political run. Then complains about their spin on it? Please. She and her family have too many character flaws and outlandish caricature personality traits not to made fun of them. The joke was not about her daughters but the recently disgraced men.
I think if your teenage daughter gets pregnant out of wedlock then breaks up with the father. Afteryou announce they are to be married and your stance on birth control is abstinence only. You and your family are free game. You put yourself out there. Bristol just took money for an interview and allowed herself to be on a cover of a magazine. They want to be public figures( Sell outs ) then they better get their big pants on and deal with it.
Bloody Hilarious!
I don't know of any mother who would just brush off those types of comments about their own child - you don't have to like Palin to have common decency. Attack the politician NOT the child.
