Transformers 2 Reviews Are In!

Movie critics are weighing in about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and I'm laughing at all the different ways they say the exact same thing: That the Transformers sequel is "big," "loud," and completely "mindless."
But isn't that exactly what a summer movie should be?
Here are some of the funnier reviews I've read so far:
From Rotten Tomatoes: "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a noisy, underplotted, and overlong special effects extravaganza that lacks a human touch."
From The Hollywood Reporter: “Shia LaBeouf gets little chance to show what charm he might have. Meanwhile, Megan Fox has little to do except look great in a tank top and tight jeans while running in slow motion through flying sand.”
From The Chicago Sun-Times: “If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination."

I already saw it.. I won a contest through our local chevy dealers to see it on Tuesday, and a chance to win a "Bumblebee Camaro" We didnt win the car, but we had fun at the movie. I agree that the plot sucks.. they are trying to squeeze money out of it, that I understand.. but the plot was lacking. There are new auto bots.. but no real explanation to how they got there. There are new characters, but no real explanation as to why or any back story.. It was NOT appropriate for kids under the age of 8, or even 10 depending on the kid. Lots of "bodies" and violence.. lots of swearing, lots of sexuality.
HUGE explosions, LOTS of guns, lots of noise. I'm not saying it was bad.. but compared to the first one, which my family loves and we watch quite often (my son adores it!) we wont be buying, or renting this one again. It just wasnt THAT good. Oh- there are "ball" jokes, too.. one of the "megas" has testicles... its just... cheap laughs, you know? All in all, I'm glad we didnt have to pay for our ticket.
My daughter and I were at the first matinee this morning. We dug it! We loved all of the new autobots! And, the new decepticons. hehe Not to undermine the PP.....there was an explanation as to how the "new" auto bots showed. lol I don't want to spoil anything for those that enjoy those types of cheap laughs. I highly recommend it for pure summer entertainment! We are highly anticipating the DVD release..lol!
I do agree about the language and sexuality. I wish they would had made it more kid friendly for the lil guys. I'm sure that was disturbing for the parents who brought the lil ones .....it was unexpected.

Loryl- all they said was something along the lines of "you put out a call into space and they showed up" not really an explanation, you know? kinda lame.. that was my point. We still enjoyed it.. but I wouldnt bother to see it again, because I'm not going to let my son see it for a few years. we'll just stay fans of the first one!
People who think that just because a movie's existence means quality sure won't want to read the Transformers 2 review in most outlets. Critics have not been giving a favorable Transformers 2 review. The film has been pilloried in the press as having a labyrinthine plot that is ultimately lacking depth, and it received a 20% approval on Rotten Tomatoes, the film review site, and it appears a fast payday loan isn't going to reverse the tide. Director Michael Bay is frequently lambasted by critics as a hack that relies on effects rather than plot, and the Transformers 2 review stream seems to reflect this view, but it likely won't stop people from getting fast cash to watch it.
Haven't seen it yet....I still want to see it cause I LOVED THE TRANSFORMERS as a kid...loved the first movie and I will see for myself and make my own judgments on the movie...I like Shia...he's adorable..LOL..my son loves Bumblebee he's a huge fan of him!!!
I saw it on opening night ..GREAT it is a summer movie. Shia is just the same as before funny, and his Mom is very funny. And as before Megan Fox is just eye candy, sad she had a chance to prove herself to be more, but if you can't act well she can't. The auto-bots are fantastic and the other big blowups are fun, just a good summer movie. I would watch some of the language for the maybe 5-10 year the younger ones will just like the bots. Product placement! should help GM.
I was so excited about this. Then I read the reviews. So I am letting my son and husband go alone. Even my teen daughter has lost interest. Sad considering we loved the first. My dad received a 14.00 credit for their tickets, going on 1.00 popcorn night so it won't be a big investment. So far UP has been the movie of the summer for me although Half Blood Prince is just a few weeks away. I hope they don't mess with the book too much.
I saw it the other night and I didn't think it was that great, but I can't say much because I feel asleep for like 15 min because I was bored with it, lol. In my opinion there wasn't much of a plot just a lot of fighting and explosions from what I saw. My husband thought it was just ok.
