Viola Davis, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role as the mother of a boy suspected of being molested in the movie Doubt, is in negotiations for a role in the upcoming Eat, Pray, Love starring Julia Roberts.
The film is based on the blockbuster 2006 memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, who travels Italy, India and Indonesia trying to discover herself after a divorce.
Roberts is cast for the lead role of Gilbert, while Davis is being considered for the woman's best friend, Delia.
Filming was slated to begin this month in New York and across the book's other exotic locales, and won't be released till 2011.
I'm sure Roberts will deliver a stunning performance, but it remains to be seen if the film will follow the exact plot of the book. For some reason, most of the movies based on books that I've seen lately have always gone their own way at the end -- and not always for the better.

Have you read Eat, Pray, Love? Do you think Roberts is a good match for the author's character?

I loved Eat, Pray, Love so much I bought it for all my girlfriends at Christmas when I first read it. I think Julia Roberts is perfect for the part! I can't wait to see the movie!
