Where oh where has all my Tupperware gone? I have an inkling as to where it might be.
Last night I went to freeze some leftovers from dinner only to discover that my big, square Tupperware dish—the one I use to freeze leftovers all the time!—was no where to be found in my kitchen. After emptying all my cabinets...twice!... I finally remembered that I had used it to bring cookies to a friend two weeks ago. Either she had forgotten to return it, or I had forgotten to retrieve it...it seems pointless to quibble over blame. The point is, it was gone, and I needed it!
Does this happen to you? Are you constantly losing Tupperware or glass or ceramic dishes after bringing food to friends or to a party?
I guess the simple solution is not to bring my good dishes to other people's houses, but I don't have many extras. Moreover, I don't like using disposables because it creates a lot of waste, which is bad for the environment. There must be some etiquette about politely getting dishes back from friends. Once when I brought a dish to a dinner party I offered to wash my dish so I could take it home with me. It worked and I definitely got my dish back, but I felt a little weird about the whole thing.
How do you get your dishes back from friends? Will I ever be reunited with my favorite Tupperware dish again?

I have a roll of lab tape (butchers tape works good too), I put my name on the tape and tape on the top and bottom. I am a nut about keeping control of my stuff, so I make sure to empty it and bring it home with me!
I agree with sunmoonstars, tupperware is too expensive to lose! I lost my favorite Thatsa! bowl and learned my lesson! I put my last name on the bottom with permanent marker! People who don't return your items are rude!

Another way of preventing this, is to buy the cheap glad or ziploc containers to take things to people's houses in. If my tupperware goes anywhere, it comes home when I do. If I want to leave something, then I take it in "throwaway" containers. I have a neighbor who takes forever to return things, I never take food to her in my Tupperware.
what i do is i go to yard sales, and buy whatever plates/tupperware/ dishes they have, and i put them in the dishwasher, and put them in the cabinet above my fridge. this way, whenever fam or friends need to take something home, they can keep my $.25 bowl or tupperware, and i never have to worry about it.. now thats what my friends do too..
I started to bring things in plastic bags; zip lock bags. I lost too much of my good stuff. I have some family members that would conveniently keep your good stuff!!
You just cant trust anyone when it comes to Tupperware....
As I am a Tupperware Consultant, I don't use my Tupperware to send home with anyone, unless it a gift of the Tupperware also. If I take any of my containers anywhere, I bring them back with me. People sometimes latch onto pieces of Tupperware because it is so good.
my husband always lose tupperware.. even tho takin to work... forgotten.. or thrown away.. grrrr.. and always asked me where are they. I did not have it and all i do is put the food in and give it to him and he thinks its all my fault. grr

Puting your name on them usually works. I hate when my dishes wonder to dh's work and never make their way back. That is the worst, then he wonders why there are never containers when he needs them.
