Speaking of mini desserts, I'm enchanted by the tiny three-layer cakes, tiny pies, and cute-as-a-button cupcakes that The Farm Chicks made for a "Tiny Party." Check out the link for even more DIY "tiny" party ideas, including tiny party hats and bags.

I love cranberries, but I know lots of people—particularly kids—can't handle the sourness. Still, with the right amount of sugar, I think this tart 'n' tasty fruit has potential to be more than a tired Thanksgiving side or a forgotten muffin. Check out the New York Times article about the underrated cranberry; then read on for an easy cranberry sauce recipe guaranteed to sweeten up your Thanksgiving spread. (None of that canned stuff allowed!)

Cheese is and forever will be my weakness. That's precisely why I wouldn't dare trust myself around mini blue cheese balls rolled in bacon (from Hip Hostess).

My stomach is growling for these Pizza Bites (from For the Love of Cooking)—pillowy balls of pizza dough filled with cheese and pepperoni with a side of pizza sauce. Yum!

Is it rude NOT to give out goody bags at your kids' birthday party? Some moms think that party bags are wasteful, filled as they usually are with plastic and sugary junk that usually gets thrown away at home. But others feel guilty and find it hard to part with the tradition of handing out party favors as a "thank you" to guests.
If you think a parting gift is a nice gesture, here are a few creative alternatives to the classic trinket-filled goody bag.

Monster masks? Pin the tail on Max? Tissue paper vine decorations? Sounds like a Where the Wild Things Are-themed birthday party to me! So cute. And so relevant now that the movie is making the book more popular than ever. Party Perfect has great ideas for throwing your child a Wild Things bash.
Do you love the Wild Things theme?
