What Was Your Toddler's Favorite Present?

Last year, Santa completely failed my daughter. Santa didn't start early enough or have the energy to really "do it up." Not that it mattered—my daughter was just one and she really didn't understand what was happening. But this year, she got it. She knew that "Ho ho" was coming down the chimney and was going to fill her stocking with toys. Good thing Santa was prepared. He delivered a handmade wood stove, along a cooking pot, an apron, and some felt fruits and veggies. My daughter was over the moon.

What was your toddler's favorite present? Was it the one you thought it would be?

It's hard enough raising one teen -- but three?! Welcome to RAZmom88's wild and wonderful life. Each Thursday she shares what drama or joy she encountered this week.

What Santa Brings Teenagers

Everyone's been home for Christmas break this week, including James, my 18 year old son Ryan's friend from college.

Christmas presents? Well, this very nice laptop I am using right now was our big family gift. Andrea, 18, and Zack,15, each asked for one, but we could only afford one, so everyone has to share.  That's okay with me, I can be more aware of their online activities.

Zack also asked for tights and shoes for track. I knew I would get the wrong things so I bought him a $100 gift card. Andrea's big gift was a Chi Flat Iron -- a $100 hair straightener. They both got pretty much everything they asked for ... I hope.

Toddlers often lack gracious gift receiving etiquette: saying aloud that they dislike gifts, tossing clothing gifts to the side, or refusing to say "thank you."

Today MrsManners gives us some tips and guidance for teaching and encouraging appropriate responses to presents received from family and friends.

December 21, 2009 at 10:16 AM by Cafe Cynthia - Comments (0)

Stocking stuffers for girls are easy -- nail polish, note pads, scrunchies, makeup. Everyone seems to have their daughters covered. CafeMoms agree that boys are much harder to buy for. I did an informal survey to see what other moms are stuffing for their sons' stockings this year. Some really good ideas here if you're still struggling ...

Entertainment Stocking Stuffers

Dumping out the stocking to uncover all sorts of fun little trinkets was one of my favorite parts of Christmas morning. Even if I did get underwear and socks that year (not the most fun gift for a 10-year-old).

Now that I'm older, I get much less under the tree but my parents still put together a stocking for my sister and I.

I've put together a slideshow of some entertainment-related stocking stuffers for all you bookworms, music lovers, and chic geeks out there!
