A family of four in England says they're too fat to work.
They already receive more than $30,000 per year in government benefits. But they want more.
See one of the daughters below from her tryout on a British reality TV show.
The Chawners--see their photo in the Telegraph--have a combined weight of 1,160 pounds. Philip, 53, and his wife Audrey, 57, weigh 336 pounds each. Daughter Emma, 19, weights 236, and her sister Samantha, 21, weighs 252. I recently read their story, shocked, on That's Fit.
Audrey has said she has epilepsy and asthma because of her large size, and she claims that her family's weight is genetic. Plus, they cannot afford to eat healthier.
Philip has Type 2 diabetes and a heart condition.
Emma says she's a student without time to exercise.
The family say they don't get enough money to cover the bills and put food on their table. Father Philip was quoted as saying, "It's not our fault we can't work. We deserve more."
Hmmm. If you worked at the welfare office, would you give them more money? What do you think? Are some people too fat to work?

This is bullcrap! I use to weigh 285 (150 now) and I worked - all types of jobs to be exact. They could even get jobs sitting on their butts if that is what they wanted, it's still working. Instead of worrying about getting more money to eat more food ...lose the weight and get a job!
Tere is such a thing as to fat to work but they don't fit the bill. IF they can get out of bed and cook that food they want more money for they can go to work. From the sound of it they may not be on any assisstance for to long, They will be dead.
First of all, the cause of obesity is what's genetic, and if you do enough digging, you can find out what it is and get control over it. I have received several diagnoses in the past two years that I now believe are all caused by yeast overgrowth (I just started treatment this week), and I don't doubt that some of those problems--particularly Celiac Disease--have run in my family for a long time. My grandmother died from diabetes and cancer, and she was seriously obese most of her life. Now my father (her son) is diabetic and learned because of my dx of Celiac that gluten-free eating has helped him feel healthier and shed about 20 lbs.
If this family tried hard enough to find out why they're all so heavy and make an effort to deal with it, I think they'd find that their other issues would improve, too (and btw...epilepsy is not the result of obesity; that's gross misinformation, although it's very possible her real problem is Celiac, which can result in seizures).
thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard. My sister was as big as that girl and has always worked. She has lost 180 lbs though I'm so proud of her
Give me a break. Too fat to work? What about a desk job, or work from home? And if they don't get enough money to cover all their expenses, might I suggest eating less??
I belive you can be too fat to work. This family does not look too fat to work. Their out walking around and auditioning for music right?
They DONT WANT to loose weight. I went from 190 lbs to 140 lbs just because one of my dearest friends was traveling across the U.S. to see me. It was hell and took nearly a year but i did it, and continued down to 120 until i got pregnant. And im 19! At the time i was 16. I had to go to school every day, eat nothing but crap (bologna, $1 pizza, noodles, etc.), but i still did it
Those people are lazy and HELL NO i would not give them money. I would decrease it! Other people, people who are working and trying to support their children and people who are sick or got hurt deserve that money.
Not a chance on the planet! I've been big, and I still got off my butt and went to work. And I've done all kinds of things. Genetics or not, you can still lose the weight, but doing that would mean these people would have to work, and wouldn't get to sit around watching tv all day. AND... it costs more to eat the junk that makes you fat than it does to eat healthy... Chicken, fish, veggies and water instead of twinkies and soda... Being fat is not a disability, and if you lose the weight, all of the other "diseases" that stem from it will go away. BTW... epilepsy is not caused by being fat...
Sorry... I will step off my soapbox now.

No such thing as too fat to work... and before anybody gets their panties twisted, I am a large woman myself.
I have done jobs that required lots of walking and standing, and I have done office work. Walking and standing for long periods certainly isn't COMFORTABLE, but it is DOABLE.
These people are just lazy and using their weight as an excuse.
