Swapping clothing with friends is fun. However, why stop there? You can dust off lots of unused household items that someone else might be able to breathe some new life into. You know you have perfectly lovely home goods laying around that simply don't match your kitchen anymore. What doesn't work in your home can work perfectly in a friend's home. Or what about passing on the knitting materials you invested in only to decide you hate knitting? I know you know what I'm talking about here.

Here are some household items you might choose to include in your swap party:

• Books or cookbooks
• CDs and DVDs
• The blender you don’t use anymore
• Dishes or glassware
• Lamps
• Organizers and baskets
• Decor items (vases, pillows, frames, knick knacks)
• Never-used wedding gifts (no one has to know)
• Tote bags
• Party supplies
• Craft materials (material, yarn, needles, scrapbooking stuff)

And if you and your friends are into gardening, here are some garden-themed ideas to include in your swap party:

• Seeds (veggies or flowers!) or bulbs
• Pots and urns
• Gardening books or magazines
• Watering cans
• Garden tools

Swap parties are good for the planet and good for your pocketbook. You end up recycling a lot of gently used items. Plus, any excuse for a party with good friends is a good one.
