Vintage patchwork quilts are one of those irresistible finds for me.

My grandma was a quilter and a crocheter, and she handcrafted a quilt for each of us. Sometimes I'm sad that used my quilt so much growing up. It shows definite signs of wear. But then again, it still has the most perfect weight, smell, and softness of any blanket I've ever owned.

Shown above (clockwise from top left):

Are you a quilter or a fan of old vintage or vintage-style quilts?

Childhood Blankies -- Do You Still Have Yours?

I quilt.  I made each of my older 3 a quilt when they were born.  Crib sized and simple, to be used lovingly.  The older 2 used theirs until they were threadbare or falling apart.  I remember the day I packed them up to save them from being destroyed.  They were 2 and 3 and just bawled for their blankies but eventually adjusted.

My son's was my favorite because some of the fabric I used was vintage.  No clue what error but it had belonged to my grandmother so it was at least from the 50s or 60s as was the backing which had been the back of a queen size quilt my grandmother had made a long time ago.  It was so soft and worn already.

My 3yo still has one of the quilts I made for my older daughters which has some vintage 70s fabric in it.  And the quilt that belonged to my husband as a baby.  Each one of my kids came home from the hospital in that quilt.

auror...

Oohh very pretty.  I love quilts.  I wish I could make one myself but I am horrible at even sewing.

Jesse...

My great grandma used to make quilts, they were the best.  My dad still has most of them.  My mil made us a quilt set for our wedding.  I love quilts.

Lumin...

oooh I love quilts. My great grandma was an amazing quilter... and she was Hawaiian so she could quilt in the Hawaiian techniques which are simply gorgeous... her quilts are like gold in our family. I am lucky enough to have two... one she made for each of us for our 5th birthdays (mines pink with a bunch of ladies and parasols in fabrics from my baby clothes) and one I got when she passed away, sadly. When my grandmother passes away I have a feeling great grandmas quilts are the only thing anyone will be arguing over. They truly are like treasure to us.
