Seriously loving this tree-shaped bookshelf by design artist Shawn Soh, found via Little Lark. I adore it like I love this tree-shaped coat rack.
I need a tree to hold my books and another for my coats, uh, nooooow!

We're only at the beginning of soccer season here, and I can't tell you how many times I've almost killed myself on wayward soccer balls already.
Here's a cool solution I found in Real Simple magazine this month — Ball Claws, special mounts designed to hold soccer balls, footballs, volleyballs, and basketballs and keep them off the floor.

Right now, I've got three half-drunk bottles of water, a clock, a flashlight, some glasses, my retainer, and a stack of about six books on my nightstand. Oh, and there's a large lamp too. The drawers (there are three) are stuffed with all kinds of stuff—batteries, pens and pencils, film from like 2003, ear plugs, toys, receipts, three-year-old hand cream, checkbooks, and more.

I don't know how I lose my keys as often as I do since the entire collection weighs a ton. I've got my house keys, my car keys, my storage space keys, keys to mom's house, my Stop and Shop card, my CVS card, two other store cards, and a picture of my daughter hanging off one chain. The thing is a total mess, and I've decided to simplify. The Split-Ring-Key by Scott Amron is step one. It's a sleek, stylish key chain with a blank key that can be cut to match one of your existing keys. $3.50 at AmronExperimental.
What's hanging from your key chain?

I simply adore a good creative reuse project. Via Curbly, check out this ladder turned into a bookshelf. This would be great in a garage or workshop.
Got an awesome creative reuse idea to share? PM me with photos.

My step-mother is the queen of clutter. It's pretty clear that her problem stems more from a psychological or emotional attachment to stuff rather than an inability to be neat. But still, her office is in need of serious help.
We've helped her organize it a few times, but it always goes back to being an unnavigable mess. In my quest to find a way of helping her, I came across the FlyLady.

Sherry and John over on Young House Love just cleaned out their garage. Why does it seem so fun when they do it?

I'm an organized person, but in my own, clutter-like way. I know where stuff is...and that's the important thing, right? Here are some links I love to help you get organized:

If you ever have a CafeMom over for coffee (for real, not in Latte Land), your bathroom and kitchen better be eat-off-the-floor clean. Filth in those rooms are what many moms said they are bothered by most when they visit someone else's house.
"Skanky toilets and dirty dishes. Both gross me out," says diapermakinmama in the private Stay at Home Moms group. "My kitchen and bathroom are spotless if I have guests over. They are clean anyway, but I make sure they shine for guests."
Moms tell of more housecleaning horrors:

Don't get me wrong, I love conserving old, vintage items. But sometimes, no matter how much you love the "vintage" look, they just aren't pretty.
