I noticed jefferyzmyworld asked moms in Pregnancy how to involve her husband (and the guys in general) in her baby shower -- she'd like to have a co-ed, or couples, shower. Some moms said they would like having a shower without the guys; others said the husbands would be around but off doing something separate; and others said it would be a couples shower all the way, with guys staying for all of the fun.
What about you? Will your husband be at your baby shower? Will you plan something else for the men or keep the affair all "girls only?"
my dd mil wants to give a shower for her son and i have heard of it but it was a diaper shower; my hubby never woulda went for it, but times have changed and dads are more involved now!
We didn't do this, but a friend of ours had a baby shower that was thrown somewhere else for her, and on the same day, her hubby had a diaper shower... he bought a keg for the boys and the cover charge was a pack of diapers LOL! It went over really well, and they had almost a year's worth of diapers (when they ran out of the right size, they just exchanged a wrong size pack)!!!
I had 2 showers w/ my first. One with family and one w/ friends. The friends one was co-ed. I liked the co-ed one, we ate cake and didn't have to play any of those party games!
I had a co-ed baby shower. It was Christmas Day 2006 and Hubby and I were in NJ for the holidays from our home in MI. So not only was my Hubby at my baby shower, but 3 of my uncles, my step dad and my grandfather. Believe it or not, they had fun. My one uncle kept saying, "More bows! She needs more bows on her head!"
Ha ha ha... if I even mentioned it to my husband he would laugh. So... no, I wouldn't do it. Also, most baby showers the moms with children are talking about stuff that most men do not need nor want to hear about and that some women would feel uncomfortable talking about in front of other men. i.e. breasfeeding issues, labor pains, episiotomies, c-sections, lactation....
I am against it, but that's me....
I did a co-ed baby shower for my son and his girlfriend since a lot of his friends are single and he wanted his friends involved. I had it at a winery where they served beer to make it more "guy friendly"! It worked, we got men to come AND they enjoyed playing the games more than the women. We also did a dirty diaper game with the guys where we filled a diaper with chocolate pudding and milk duds and they had to eat the "poo" out of the diaper without using their hands. They really had fun with that one. We had gifts for guys like a bucket filled with sponges and Armor-all and misc things like that. It was a lot of fun and we had a great turn out!
I had one March 07' and it went well. It was my first baby shower and every one was involved. I had never been to a co-ed baby shower out of my times attending other women's baby showers! My baby shower was not planned as a co-ed shower however it ended that way and every one enjoyed themselves. It became a shower were singles also mingled :)

I had intended on everyone hanging out together but my little brother took out is X-box so all the guys went and played on that. Except my friends boyfriend who didn't know anyone and sat very uncomfortably with her he whole time! The guys ate all the food and played games including my dad and best friend!
