Am I Pregnant?

January 6, 2009 at 11:44 AM by Cafe Melisa - Comments (11)

am i pregnant?Think you might be pregnant? That in between time of wondering whether you might be (am I experiencing signs of early pregnancy or just about to get my period?) and knowing for sure can make you crazy.

An Anonymous mom asked women in Answers how soon they had taken a home pregnancy test. Here's what a few moms had to say about how early they tested with positive results.

"I tested one day before AF was due. It was an early response test, and it worked instantly!"

"I tested positive at just over a week pregnant. I wasn't even expecting my period for another week."

"First Response if the way to go! I tested positive over a week before my missed period both times."

Although lots of moms are testing early, the Mayo Clinic recommends waiting until after your missed period to test in order to get more accurate results.

Are you newly pregnant? How soon did you test?

I agree, Clear Blue is the way to go!  It says 'pregnant' or 'not pregnant', no guessing if it's a plus sign or not!

well. with my first pregnancy, i got 8 home pregnancy tests that said negative it didnt matter what brand name it was. the same week i got my 8th pregnancy test; a day after i went to the doctors to find out i was 12 weeks pregnant and i heard the heart beat. a month later, i had already had my ultrasound to confirm i was already that far along and with all the home neg tests. i also had 4 urine tests that came out neg in those 12 weeks.

with my second one, i found out when i was 4 weeks pregnant with a big fat positive from first responce.

every pregnancy i think is different

MrsSm...

I always use First Response... I tested positive with both kids 5 days before I was due to start.

Logan...

So, I agree that each test is different. With my first child, I had 4 tests come up negative after my period was due and my pregnancy wasn't confirmed until I was 11 weeks. My second pregnacy which ended with a miscarriage on Thanksgiving of 2008, came up with 3 positive pregnancy tests the day my period was due.  Now, 6 weeks after the miscarriage, I still haven't gotten my period and a week and a half ago, the test was negative at the Dr.'s office; a week after my period was due. He told me today to test in two weeks if I don't get my period in that time frame. I'm excited and don't know if I'll be able to wait another two weeks before testing!

When I was pregnant with my 1st son I tested negative. So I went to the doctor and he took my blood and he said I was pregnant. Then he did a ultrasound it showed a little sack with a little tiny embryo.

I tested the day before my cycle was due each time and got a positive - but I was already pretty sure by then!  I got morning-noon-and-night sickness both times from the day I concieved.

nicoa...
what a funny question. i did a test a week after my missed period which i incidentally found at a 99cent shop. its an easy read, 2 stripes is all you need to see! i ignored a sure sign before that: a blood spot on my sheet from the implantation (about 3 weeks after my period). what i did notice (just before i questioned my period) was that my skin cleared up!
