My partner and I were pretty set on the names for our babies before we had them. But not 100 percent. There was a part of me that couldn't say for certain, yes, this baby is Jasper or this baby is Magnolia until I'd seen them. I mean, I know all newborns sort of look the same, but still. I had to see those faces first.
I read a fun post in The CafeMom Newcomers Club asking moms if their babies looked like their names.
Mezmer said it was interesting to her how her son really looks like an Ethan and her twin girls look like Chloe and Zoe, and she wondered if other moms felt the same about their kids. Many moms said they did think their baby looked like the name they'd picked -- and they shared the cutest pics!
I don't know if my kids "look" like their names or not, but I do think the names suit them (that's them in the photo!).
What do you think? Do you want to meet your baby before you decide on the name?
no we already know we are naming him colten. It would be weird naming him anything else considering whenever my boyfriend talks to my belly he calls him colten...i wouldn't want to name the baby something else now and him think who the hell are you talkin to
Both of my kids were named after they got here. With my first we didn't even have an idea of what we wanted! I was laying there the next day saying.... "Ok, this kid needs a name!" With the 2nd I had a dream the morning I went into labor that I was calling my mom telling her "Maegan Raye" was here (it was either that or Brette Aubrey) and when I woke up my water broke!
I personally just cant see giving someone a name they have to live with their whole life without "meeting" them first!
We didn't know if we were having boys or girls, so we couldn't finalize a name until the birth. I did feel I needed to see them before giving them an official name. We didn't have any last minute name changes (we went with our first choice for all three kids) but I did need to know the gender and see them to make sure the name 'fit.'
I named my daughter Alyssabeth after my Grandfather's last wishes so we couldn't wait on her. LOL But with my son, Landon, we waited until he was born
when I was pregnant with my first child, I didn't want to name him myself, I knew his name would come to me when the time was right. He was three days old when his name came to my heart. Now my second one, his name came to me long before he was born. I think if you wait and listen, their names will come to you.
i had a couple of names picked out when I had my daughter and we were pretty sure we were going to name her Violet. However, when she was born I didn't think she looked like a violet at all. We scratched all the names we had picked out and came up with Autumn instead. We named her two days after she was born.
I had names picked out for my sons before they were born, but we have no idea what we are naming this one... so it might be that she is here before we have a name picked out.
We waited till we found out what it was(boy or girl...its a girl!) to decide but we know now it will be Daisy Elaine. We aren't telling anyone though that we know so it makes it fun torturing them lol!
