I took a pregnancy test for my son in the doctor's office, so I spent those agonizing five minutes bouncing my legs and staring at a beige wall while praying for good news.
When I suspected I was pregnant with my daughter, I took a home pregnancy test. I peed on the stick in the bathroom off the kitchen, popped to the sink to wash a few dishes while thinking good thoughts, and ran back into the bathroom in exactly four minutes (to make sure I gave it enough time).
How did you pass those incredibly nerve-wracking few minutes while waiting to see if those pink or blue lines appeared?
Other CafeMoms distracted themselves by ...
... putting lotion on my arms and getting no further than my shoulder. I just sat, with globs of lotion on my arms, and stared at the test for a couple minutes in disbelief. We had been trying for a year!
... totally forgetting about it! For me the tests were routine every month for the past two years. This time I was late, but I thought it was stress. I peed on the digital, went and brushed my teeth and started getting dressed ... then as I was packing lunch for work about seven minutes later I remembered. I went back to look, did a double take, and then started to cry with happiness!
... sitting on the toilet saying over and over, "Please don't be positive. Please don't be positive. I'm happy now, but I certainly wasn't trying to have another baby."
... doing nothing. As soon as I set it down it was two lines dark and bright!

FILED UNDER: pregnancy signs, trying to conceive
I laid it on the counter and walked into the kitchen and thought "omg omg omg omg" then I walked back into the bathroom and saw the 2 pink lines.. and was like "omg omg omg" haha. i called my best friend and said, "you need to come over now, i just took 2 pregnancy tests and i think i am pregnant you need to go buy 2 more! " haha.. i then called my fiance and said, "um, i think i am pregnant" .needless to say we were surprised, but it was the *best* surprise ever :)
Yeah, all 3 times (and especially this last time) the lines showed up right away. By the time I was done wiping, they were there... so no waiting for me.
I couldn't bring myself to look at it so I watched some tv...and the clock for a few minutes and sent my boyriend in the bathroom to check.
With my first two pregnancies, I found out from my doctor's office. I can remember waiting for the doctor to call me back and my hands were shaking like a leaf. I was at work trying to act like I wasn't on pins and needles... not an easy task! With my next pregnancy, my doctor's nurse told me when I phoned in for a panel of pre-op blood test results. I did not think I could conceive without clomid and the day before my OB/GYN had done a pelvic and said I wasn't pg, so it came as a surprise. My exact words were "I guess that is why I keep throwing up." Duh! LOL! With my dd I did a home test and paced around staring at my stopwatch until it was time to go in and read the test. And with my second dd we were not ttc and I was very worried about being pg and dh kept telling me to relax, there was no way. So I sent him to the bathroom to read the test, figuring if he wasn't worried I would let him deal with it. I knew it was positive when he said "Oh crap!" LOL! Needless to say we are very happy to have her, but at the time it was a major shock!
Yea i ha no time to do anything as i was pulling it out of the stream of urine it was turning positive! Big shock to me!
Waiting for the pregnancy results from a home pregnacny test is just agonizing. I am now pregnant with my second child - and a few months ago at the time I learned I was pregnant, I would have told you that waiting for the results is the hardest part. However, after breaking the news to my 3 year old daughter that she'd have a brother soon - I decided I'd rather wait an agonizing full 24 hours for pregnacy test results then ever have to recite that speech ever again, after the tantrum she threw about not wanting a little brother. I think two children will be enough for me. Although I would reconsider adding another member to my family if I could be in this mom's shoes- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iURGJpoEcn0
Any mom who has had to give the "New sibling" speech I am referring to will appreciate this!
there was no waiting for me. i peed on the stick and before i could even get it out from under me it was positive
With dd, i peed on teh stick and then dh and i sat and watched in anxiety to see if it was positive. I had miscarried just 3 months before and had been experiencing morning sickness, so we were terrified and excited. --With ds i had a feeling i was preg and i peed on teh stick and wah lah, seconds later i was staring at 2 lines.
as for me with dd i layed it o the bathrm counter then came back in after i think a few minutes and it was positive with the one im carrying now seems like soon as i was laying it on the counter the positive lines where already coming up

Mine popped up pretty darn quick as well! So no real waiting for me...I just sat there on the pot staring at it to see what it would do.
