Did You Make a Labor Soundtrack?

June 29, 2009 at 3:00 PM by Daily Buzz Team - Comments (5)

labor soundtrackWhether you're preparing for a home or hospital birth, I'm sure you have a checklist of all the things you need.

And even though it's not a necessity, having a labor soundtrack helps make the experience more enjoyable for some moms.

lilmomma92706 wants to make one and asked for some suggestions. Here's what some moms said:

ANewPerspective: I'm going to make one but mine will be unlike some of the ones I've heard of. Normally people put a bunch of relaxing music on them, but I'm going to put upbeat stuff because I think that'll distract me better. I"ll definitely have Katy Perry, Seether, Britney Spears, and Nickelback.

Chick: I used "Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)" by The Dixie Chicks. I was having a boy so it was perfect and still makes me cry. It's very relaxing and sweet no matter what you are having. "Little Wonder" by Rob Thomas would also be great.

lanceandhailey: "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw and "Fly To Your Heart" by Selena Gomez.

Lil Sugar also has some great suggestions. They have a huge list of labor songs but here are their top five:

  • "Beautiful Boy" by John Lennon
  • "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys
  • "Blackbird" by the Beatles
  • "Lullabye" by the Dixie Chicks
  • "Little Star" by Madonna
  • Did you or will you have a labor soundtrack? What's on yours?

I keep meaning to, but haven't.
Mine wouldn't be relaxing stuff - it would be songs that I could sing very loudly and enthusiastically.

I didn't have one with my first, however, IF I ever have another kid (definately not any time soon!) there's going to be lots of growly melodic death metal. I joke that I will be growling my way through labor. lol

WIth my first, I had upbeat, dance music playing during labor. I had a C section. WIth the 2nd C section, my OB already had the radio playing. My daughter was born to "Living On A Prayer" Talk about a tear jerker!!! It was so touching. After Bon Jovi played, "Touch Me" by the Doors played, and that's my DD1's favorite song from the movie "School of Rock." The OB ordered the other nurses to crank it up when I told him that! With #3, it'll be interesting. I'm not sure what I'm going to do this time!

I didnt have  a labor soundtrack but on the way to the hospital I was nervous, so DH put the song "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley on and thats the last song I heard before delivering my son, so it brings back memories :)
