Do Fertility Drugs Increase Thyroid Cancer Risk?

When you are trying to conceive, it can be one of the most difficult times in your life. It's hard when you see women all around you getting pregnant accidentally and here you are trying and trying and nothing is working. It really does a number on your mind. Lots of soul searching, lot of tears, lots of frustration.

It doesn't matter if you are doing it holistically (with chaste tree -- oh I know it well) or with a fertility doctor -- there are so many questions and most of them start with Why.

Not to throw more confusion into the TTC ring, but there is a new study out that says women who take progesterone or Clomid, the most common fertility drugs, are at a greater risk to develop thyroid cancer.

The Institute of Cancer Epidemiology has been studying this for 36 years.

Natural alternatives have been shown to be safer than drugs.

I think we all knew that. But no one wants to hear that something could lead to cancer.

What I was so intrigued with was a natural fertility treatment that I have never heard of before. It's called the Wurn Technique, and it was developed by physical therapist Belinda Wurn. This non-surgical treatment includes manual therapy to increase reproductive function and even open blocked fallopian tubes without any surgery.

The Wurn Technique has proved successful in a small study by Medscape: "Seventy one percent of women diagnosed infertile by their doctors an average of five years, became pregnant naturally within one year of receiving the therapy," the study said.

Now I wonder how much it costs and if insurance covers it.
