Me with twins at 34 weeks.
One of the OBGYNs in the collective I go to made a big stink about how much weight I am gaining...but she's the only one. The others seem very happy with my progress and didn't tell me to "Watch it" when talking about the foods I should eat.
Don't get me started...I am so annoyed with this one doctor.
I'm 35 weeks pregnant with twins and have so far gained 53 pounds.
I just found out that Heidi Klum gained 45 pounds during her fourth pregnancy. Oh Heidi...just when I thought it was impossible for me to love you more and now this!
Now I'm not saying that all pregnant women should gain a lot of weight. I think it really depends on the weight you are before you got pregnant and I do think it's important, not to mention healthy for you and baby (or babies), to keep weight within reason.
But it's also inspiring to see women like Heidi who gained a lot and then lost it all soon after baby arrived. Klum surprised everyone when she walked the Victoria's Secret Runway show six weeks after Lou Sulola was born...looking gorgeous.
Are you concerned about your weight gain during pregnancy?

I gained about 50 lbs with both of my pregnancies. But before I got pregnant each time I only weighed 95 lbs. It seems like the only time my body is able to keep any weight on is when I am pregnant, so I wasn't concerned about it at all. After my first son was born, all the weight was off with in 3 months. After my second son was born it seemed as though I was going to keep some of the extra weight. I stayed around 115 lbs for nearly a year. But he is now three, and I am back below 100 lbs again.
I gained 60lbs with #1, and I've gained 21lbs so far (33 weeks) with this baby. I'm not concerned with my weight gain, I'm concerned with the health of my baby... which may go together, but as long as he's healthy, I'm not going to stress about calories...
I gained exactly 42 lbs with both of my pregnancies and had no trouble losing it with either one. Breastfeeding is great to help you lose weight! lol. You look amazing, btw.
Michele, are you taking into account how tiny you were prepregnancy too? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you get the "underweight to start" allowance, along with the twin allowance. You LOOK fantastic, I don't know where all that weight is going, girl!
My only concern about my weight was just hoping it came off afterwards. I've got medical issues in regards to weight, so it causes some icky problems (hormone fluctuation causes major weight GAIN immediately after birth). Most people don't have that problem, though, so I think people need to not stress about weight, but just habits. As long as you're eating healthy and staying active, who cares?
I wish I looked like you when I was pregnant both times. I am very concerned about gaining weight on this third preg. I just lost all the weight from my previous 2 preg. and now I am about to gain weight again. I am hoping that I don't gain more than 40 and then lose it all quickly after the baby is here.
I think that if you are eating right.. and getting all your vitamins and important nutrients to you and your baby while being pregnant than any weight gain is healthy. but not to over do yourself! You need those extra calories your baby is thriving off of them.. and also in my experience I will gain 4-5lbs one month and then next I could have gained 10-11lbs.. it all depends on what your baby needs and how they are growing.. I realize also that I will be so hungry want to eat every thing for a few days and then I don't seem hungry much at all for the week after.. its the baby's growth spurts!
I gained a little less then 20 with number 1 and a little bit more then 30 with number 2 and I have to say the added weight made pregnancy number 2 way more difficult.......
Wow, you've gained NOTHING considering that you're carrying twins!
For my first, I gained 4.5 pounds. For my second, I gained 3 pounds. For my third, I gained 10 pounds. My concern was always that I wasn't gaining enough. All three kids were around 9 pounds at birth. Everyone is different.

Wow- you look great- can't believe you have twins in there! I was bigger than that with singletons!
I gained a ton of weight when I was pg... the least I ever gained was 40 lbs. I was thin when I got pg, I gained while I was pg, and I lost it again afterwards. No big deal! Unless it's jeapordizing your health or the health of your baby, I dont' think we should agonize over the weight on the scale during pregnancy.
