I'm a little clueless when it comes to baby shower traditions. The only tradition I've seen is the making of the hat with the bows and ribbons from the gifts.
I've only recently learned what a diaper cake was and I just was clued in to the diaper baby. And wow -- how much do I love these ideas! They are not only adorable, but they are filled with items you really need!

Hubs and I in the nursery! It's a start!
Last week my husband and I were in a panic. Yeah, both of us, which is bad because we didn't have one to talk sense into the other. We were looking at our empty nursery. We have not one diaper in the house. And we just entered our third trimester. Oh and we're having twins and can go early.
I called my mom.

I was talking to a breastfeeding mom about electric pumps and she told me the one she uses, but also said that I should check out the book Baby Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields -- an invaluable resource on everything you need for your baby registry and to prep for baby's arrival.
I eat books. Well, only chocolate covered ones. So of course, I picked up a copy.
One of the best things I ever bought!

I crave watermelons, burritos, tacos, pasta with peas and garlic and oil, and lemonade, lemonade, and more lemonade, but my most recent pregnancy craving is wanting to buy things for my twins!
I actually haven't bought a thing yet. I was given a layette set and also Earth Mama Angel Baby's A Little Something for Baby gift sets, but other than that I've been waiting. Patiently.
We're moving tomorrow, so that's the main reason why. Who needs to pack more stuff? But once we're settled into our new place...lookout -- it's on!

I am one of those people skeptical about the whole must-have items for parents-to-be. I know I need a lot of things, but do I really need a diaper bag?
Can't I just use a large bag...one with compartments?

I told my husband that I got this adorable layette set for baby boy. Don't worry baby girl -- I'll get you one too! And you know what he said? What's a layette set?
It's our first child, well children (twins), so we're new at this. We're learning!
I explained it was like a starter set of clothes and PJs for a newborn all in one box. And I found this one for under $20!

Pregnant CafeMom starrynight819's doctor scolded her the other day for not using a prenatal belly button ring in place of her regular trinket.
Apparently, rings, barbells, and other style metal jewelry are too short and can rip the skin as the pregnant tummy swells.
"My ring was starting to pinch into my belly button, and if I hadn't have switched it out, it could've caused some serious problems due to the skin stretching across my belly," starrynight819 said. "The doctor told me that if I kept it in, the ring could get embedded into my skin, or even be ripped out of my skin by just sitting the wrong way."

Graco Ipo Twin; $200
Whether you're expecting twins or giving your toddler a new sibling in the next few months, you may be considering a double stroller so you can actually get out of the house once in a while.
There are no shortage of brands, styles, and features to keep you busy in the months ahead. But the really big question when upgrading to a double is always: What's better -- a tandem (front-to-back) or side-by-side?
You've got enough to do with a new baby coming. So I compiled a list of pros and cons from the many and frequent discussions across CafeMom:

Every Tuesday, I do a Take It or Leave It post where I ask about potential baby registry items. Moms swap ideas about what they're getting (or not), and why.
Here's a variation on that theme.
I ran across a post in the Expert Mommies! forum in the Pregnancy group on the Top New-Mom Must-Haves. Here's what moms who have so *been there* with a newborn said they couldn't live without.

Celebrating a baby's arrival is so much fun. It's wonderful to be "showered" with gifts, of course, but a baby-fest is about more than the giving and receiving of clothes and gear. It's about close friends and family sharing in your joy.
That's why I love Lil Sugar's idea for an heirloom-themed baby shower.
