Hubs and I in the nursery! It's a start!
Last week my husband and I were in a panic. Yeah, both of us, which is bad because we didn't have one to talk sense into the other. We were looking at our empty nursery. We have not one diaper in the house. And we just entered our third trimester. Oh and we're having twins and can go early.
I called my mom.

For some reason I was way too excited to go on the hospital tour. My hubs was too. But it was weird...when we got there and waited for it to start in a room full of others who were about to embark on the tour as well, everyone seemed cranky.
The guide was a sweetheart of a woman who also is one of the hospital's lactation consultants. One of the dads asked her what lactation meant.
But I was the annoying person who asked the most questions.
And I was also the only one who cried when we saw the babies in the nursery. They were so cute!

I was talking to a breastfeeding mom about electric pumps and she told me the one she uses, but also said that I should check out the book Baby Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields -- an invaluable resource on everything you need for your baby registry and to prep for baby's arrival.
I eat books. Well, only chocolate covered ones. So of course, I picked up a copy.
One of the best things I ever bought!

In all my readings about labor and delivery there is one word that continues to stand out and totally freak me out -- EPISIOTOMY.
I cower in fear to that word.

My doula gave me the book HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method, which is being called the new Lamaze, allowing birthing moms to go into a natural and deep state of relaxation, taking fear and pain out of labor.
Sounds good to me. I've been reading ...

My husband wants us to start thinking about and preparing the hospital bag. I'm 25 weeks -- isn't he cute?
But it is a good idea because it's one of those things that can be forgotten about and who wants to be throwing things in a bag at the last minute?
I realized one thing I want in the bag -- slippers that will not be returning with me home. I want to get a cheap pair that will be my hospital stay only slippers and I'll throw them out before I leave so I don't trek any possible germs home with me.
I'm a slight germaphobe.
Many of us know the hospital bag essentials, but what about those unexpected musts? I've got a list!

Some people snicker at the thought of a birth plan. But I like the idea of having a plan. Sure...things don't always go as expected, but it's good to have a plan A. What about a plan B? Plan C?
One mom I know ended up having strangers deliver both her babies because her doctor was unavailable at go-time. Another mom had an unplanned home birth.
As a first-time mama-to-be, this possiblity is super scary to me.

The beginnings of our babies' room
House hunting, well really apartment hunting in my case, is super stressful no matter when you do it. Add in pregnancy and it's a whole other ballgame.
When my hubs and I found out we were having twins, we knew we had to move out of our small one bedroom with a tiny office apartment. We were already bursting out of it and it was on the third floor of a walk-up.
As my husband said to me: You don't like carrying the laundry up those stairs, can you imagine two babies and a carriage? No, I can't.
So we started looking back in June....

My friend Michelle, who just had a baby girl two weeks ago (her name is Jillian and she is adorable with a full head of dark hair!), gave me this book by Jessica Mills -- My Mother Wears Combat Boots: A Parenting Book for the Rest of Us.
Jessica, a touring punk rock musician, writes of her pregnancy journey and continues through to when her daughter turns four.
