When Should the Nursery Be Ready?

Hubs and I in the nursery! It's a start!

Last week my husband and I were in a panic. Yeah, both of us, which is bad because we didn't have one to talk sense into the other. We were looking at our empty nursery. We have not one diaper in the house. And we just entered our third trimester. Oh and we're having twins and can go early.

I called my mom.

Painting the nursery

Deciding what color of paint to use when decorating the nursery can be challenging. You want it to be soothing enough but also be somewhat of a stimulant for your new baby. If you feel completely overwhelmed, here are some tips for deciding on what color to use:

Should Pregnant Women Get Special Privileges?

May 12, 2009 at 1:37 PM by Cafe Cynthia - Comments (57)

special priviledges for pregnant women

Cafe Cynthia here, paying a visit to Pregnancy Buzz.

I loved the special treatment I got during both my pregnancies, and not just from my husband, family and friends. The kindness from the stranger on the crowded train who gave me his seat. Or the guy who held the door at the library (they normally don't do that where I live), or the woman who let me cut ahead of her in the checkout line.

And during one of my regular trips to Babies R Us to daydream, I felt like royalty parking only feet from the door in one of the "Reserved for Expecting Moms" spaces.

I think they should make that one a federal law, especially when you're pregnant AND with a toddler!

What about in restaurants and other public places? Should moms get special treatment there, too?

Do You Like Decorating the Nursery?

Birds could be a cute nature-inspired nursery idea.

When we were decorating the nursery for our daughter, named Magnolia, we hung a pretty vintage picture of a magnolia we'd found on a trip to Austin years before we knew we'd have a daughter with that name.

And hanging that piece of art was just about the only thing I enjoyed about getting her nursery ready. And we did that after she was already here....

Secondhand Nursery Style Tips

February 5, 2009 at 12:10 PM by Cafe Melisa - Comments (6)

I like a vintage-y look, and most of the items in my daughter's nursery were bought secondhand -- in fact, I can't actually think of anything we bought new, from the crib to the street sign that says Magnolia! (We got that from a seller in the south on eBay.) And going for used pieces is definitely easier on the budget, too.

I just read an article in Fit Pregnancy by New York designer Amanda Moore, the owner of replacenyc.com, on secondhand nursery style tips. (The article isn't online, so you'll need to pick up a copy of the mag to see all of the ideas.) Here are a few highlights.
