Congrats to our winner, KangaMomma!
With summer in high gear, we're celebrating in Daily Buzz today with our Big Bike Giveaway. We have chances at bicycles and bike related stuff in almost every channel, so pop around and leave your comments.
For your tots, it's this blue Schwinn Roadster Trike, retailing for about $80. Oh, now I'm getting all nostalgic. I love the retro look -- the chrome fenders and a real wood deck in back of the seat remind me of the tricycle I rode when I was little.
Of course, riding bikes has changed a lot since then. No one wore helmets, and I would just disappear down the sidewalk with very little supervision.
To enter to win your child this great tricycle, please tell me:
Does your toddler ride a tricycle yet? How was his or her learning experience different from your own as a kid?
One CafeMom who replies to this post with a comment by 11:59 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, July 14, 2009, will be chosen at random to receive a Schwinn Roadster Trike*. Just your first comment will be counted -- I'll just ignore all others.
You can win only one Roadster Trike no matter how many times you comment, and our prize comes in the color blue only. The bike does not come assembled -- you'll have to put it together.
*No Purchase Necessary. Starts June 29, 2009 at 7 a.m. (EST) and ends July 14, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. (EST). Open to U.S. residents, 16 years and older, who are CafeMom members. Void where prohibited. Click here for the Official Rules.

My two year old is riding a tricycle. She loves riding it in our driveway and back yard where we have cement. We have a very quiet neighborhood but I have not let her ride on the road yet, still makes me a little nervous.
I don't remember learning to ride a tricycle OR a two wheeler so I can't discuss the difference.
This really is an awesome bike and I agree with you Cafe Cynthia, it is way retro and awesome!
Good luck everyone!
My toddler hasn't learned to use pedals yet on his bigwheel put he loves to push himself around with his feet ! (closest thing he has to a trike) I remember having a red tricyle with little tassles and learned to ride by going down the driveway, then I'd get off and drag it back up! I have a pic and am wearing blue corderoys and pigtails...like a little red-headed Cindy Brady LOL!
Both of my boys picked it up very easily as did I. Having a trike is a great trasistion to a big bike with training wheels. I just think taking the training wheels off is the hardest.
yes my toddler i is riding a trike, she went to a garage sale a few houses away about 2 weeks ago with my 10 year old and bought a old trike for $2 she loves that rusty old thing. and i dont think it has changed to much from when i was a kid the only thing that has changed is that more kids are wearing helmets today , and they were unheard of when i was growing up.
My toddler badly wants to ride a bike but we don't have one for her yet. She tries to ride her brother and sister's bikes though.
I have 3 yr old twins who are just finally getting strong enough to pedal. My son has really short legs so he has a hard time reaching the pedals. They've basically just learned by practicing and me showing them how to push with their feet. I remember having a big red & white trike when I was little but I don't remember learning how to ride it. That was soooo long ago!
my toddler is riding the little trike that my husband rode as a child. she's adorable and it's pretty darn cute watching him watch her. i swear he gets a little misty eyed.
when i was a little girl i swear my parents could care less about safety issues and helmets, knee pads any of it. NOW my parents are overly concerned about anything. the outlets in the kitchen by the counter aren't child proofed and my mom nearly has a heart attack. because my 9 month old will suddenly start hopping on the counter and start licking the electrical sockets... come on!
Not yet!
I remember I rode my bike down the hill and went too fast and knocked out my front tooth cause I fell into a cement step from going down the hill too fast, and I wasnt wearing a helmet!
Now my mom freaks about everything && I'm the SAME way!!

my twin girls are only 2 years old and are riding trikes. they started for the longest time just using their feet on the ground but a couple of weeks ago they started pedaling. as for my own experience I don't remember my trike, I know I got one when I was about 3 so I would say the girls are way younger than I was when I started riding.
