Harmony Juvenile has just released a new safe and comfortable booster seat that's just $13.50.

It won't be long before your toddler is big enough for a booster seat (usually at least age 4 AND 40 pounds; check your state's booster seat guidelines), and here's one that's affordable so you can even have one for every car — and one for the grandparents' car too.

The Harmony Juvenile LiteRider booster seat is for kids 30-100 pounds. It exceeds the most stringent safety impact testing for ultimate safety. There's a belt path that prevents children from sliding under the lap belt on impact.

The Harmony LiteRider is available at Wal-Mart in pink and beige.

When do you plan to put your child in a booster seat?

My 4 year old is still just 35 pounds, so unfortunately I can't imagine for the next year or so. She's just so skinny!

Curio...

I won't be moving either of my toddlers (That's right, there are TWO of them. *gasp*) into boosters until they're at least 4 and 40 lbs, but my daughter's seat is safe up to 100 lbs and transitions into a booster, so I won't have to replace her's.

My son is 3.5 now, and already 40 lbs. I still have him in a harness 3-point harness seat. Once he turns 4 I will probably buy a booster seat like that just to use as an alternet at times.

I'd like to remind people that children are SAFEST in a 5-point harness, and then in a highback booster.  I wouldn't put a child any younger than 6 or 7 in this, and even that makes me wince.  High-back boosters are somuch better.

However... I know there are plenty of cheapskate jerks (like a couple at my son's school) who might actually put their kid in a booster because this one is so cheap.

We wont need it because we have a nautilus, and it will be a long time until my three year old is even out of the harness.

I think it's great that the seat is so affordable, now maybe parents who would otherwise not use a booster at all, will get one. Not everyone can afford an extended harness.

My daughter is also in the nautilus, and she'll remain in the harness until 65 pounds or I decide she's old enough to transition. I was close to Jr High before I hit 65 pounds.

I'd like to remind RanaAurora that children survived hundreds of years without extended harnesses and highback boosters. There's no arguing that yes these two options have been proven to go above and beyond when it comes to safety, but just because not every parent chooses to spend almost 200 dollars on the nautilus does not make them a "cheapskate jerk". Your comment however, does seem to make you a wench.

RanaA...

ba13grl, that was insanely uncalled for.  Good lord, woman.

The people I called cheapskate jerks are the ones who have children in NO booster, when they're required to by law because their child is SO unsafe... and the reason it's law is because over "hundreds of years" there have been lots of DEATHS too.

AmiJa...

I agree with RanaAurora... that kids should stay in their harness as long as possible.

And I would like to remind ba12ugrl1987... that cars haven't been around for "hundreds of years" the first one was made in 1888 and not many people owned them... so maybe 100 years since most people drove... and think of how things have changed....  today people drive faster and are more distracted by cell phones, texting, music, DVD players in the car, busy lives and TONS more cars on the road... there are more dangers now then there ever were which means we need to protect our children more than ever... meaning keeping them in a harness as long as possible for their safety. You don't know when that texting teen with a car full of his crazy friends is going to SLAM into you.

Not all parents can afford to do extended harnessing... but so many people are in a rush to do it too soon or don't even take the time to save up for the seat that can save their child's life... but they have plenty of money to spend on the latest and greatest cell phone (or whatever).  And there are so many groups out there that can provide better seats to those who can't afford them.

Your children should come first. And you SHOULD go above and beyond for your children... no child is just a minimum.

babyb...

I agree with RanaAurora and AmiJanell.  This is a good booster for parents who are on a tight budget.

However children are not ready for a booster until the MINIMUM of 4yrs AND 40lbs.  MOST 4yr olds are not ready for a booster.  They MUST sit with their knees bent at the edge of the booster, for this booster you MUST have a headrest in your car, they have to sit with the shoulder belt going across their breastbone and shoulder(not the neck or on the arm), the lap bels has to be across their hip bones(not up on the tummy, or low on the lap) and they must stay sitting properly during the whole ride.  They can't play with the seatbelt.  It needs to stay on their body properly at al times or they are at risk for serious injury.

Your child should stay harnessed until about Kindergarden or 6yrs AND 65lbs if not longer.  You should want to protect your child, whatever the cost.

A step up in car seats is a step DOWN in safety.
