What's wrong with that?  You can make your own lollipops, and there are even some brands like Yummy Earth that don't use a bunch of crud in them.  If the kiddo is supervised I don't see the problem.

I give my toothless 1 year old lollipops but not the one with a ball the flat ones like the ones in your picture and usually I hold it.

My daughter loves her organic lollipops, and her 'ucky' lollipops (as she calls them) that she gets from the bank.  She's always supervised (as with ANY thing that goes into her mouth!), so I don't see a problem there!

My 3yr old loves lollipops. We give him Yummy Earth Lollies or I make my own.

He loves honey lollies and farm fresh maple syrup lollies!

I really don't see a problem with this at all.

I don't see a problem with this - heck her Ped gives her one after each visit.  My toddler also eats peanuts that I give her, half at a time but she eats them.  If you teach them and watch them I see no problems with this.

As long as it's not multiple times every day, who cares?  Just take it away if smaller kids try to bite it or they start to soggy-up the stick (you know, the stick gets soggy and th sucker comes off?).

i dont see the problem either.

Oh, mine had them too as toddlers. I do see the concern, though. Hard candy is one of the top choking hazards for little kids, up there with grapes and hot dogs. You also have the stick to worry about -- major boo-boo if your little one falls while sucking. You just have to watch them like a hawk.

Lollipops?  My youngest has been chewing gum since she turned 2 and has only swallowed it twice (I trust her but not my 7yo with gum).  She's been eating lollipops since before she turned 1.  As were all 4 of my kids.

She gets one a week at the end of gymnastics care of the teachers.  The only thing she isn't allowed to do is run with it in her mouth.  But I don't sit around staring at her while she eats them either.
