Swine flu vaccinations are well underway in most parts of the country for those who wish to get vaccinated.
Getting the vaccine is a personal choice. However, what about the people who care for your children? If you're pro-vaccination, will you recommend that your child care provider, babysitter, or nanny gets the swine flu vaccination as well? And what if she or he says no?

I wish there was a word to describe a mom's life other than "busy." Just doesn't seem to cut it. Overload, maybe?
Unless you're a mom, you just don't get how hectic life can really be.
Here are some links I love for all you bustling (eh, that doesn't seem to fit either) mamas out there:

I always love long holiday weekends, but as for many moms and homeowners especially, Labor Day Weekend is truly a Weekend of Labor. Over the next three days my husband and I will be attempting to paint the outside of our fixer-upper of a house at the same time we are constructing a deck. The leaky faucet needs my attention and the garden is in desperate need of a weeding marathon.
I must squeeze all these things in while trying to watch and occupy my 6 year old and 4 year old -- without TV. We cut that off now that school is starting up again.

We're going to a wedding next month and my best friend is watching my son all weekend. She adores her godson, and doesn't expect payment, but I'm going to offer anyway because she's giving up an entire two days for us.
Knowing her, she probably won't accept, for the same reason I never bother to offer to pay my own mom for babysitting.
A poll in Advice for Moms finds that only 12 percent pay their parents to babysit when they go to work or out for the night. Apparently, many grandparents feel this way:

There's a dirty little war going on in The CafeMom Newcomer's Club. Seriously, it's over dirt.
In one post about dressing and cleaning up kids before going to the store or other public place, a mom said children should always have a clean face and outfit: "At Kmart the other day, both of these kids were riding in the cart and they only had a diaper and shirt on ... not even shoes. On top of that, they looked like they hadn't had a bath for a week or two. Some people just don't care, I guess."

I'm leery of parenting advice from so-called "experts," especially those who don't even have kids. But it's still nice when they validate something that I'm already doing. Or in this case, not doing: playing with my kids 24/7.
It's been drilled into our mommy brains that the first three years of life are crucial for brain development. So, moms often feel the pressure to make every minute a "teachable" moment for their tots, by constantly attending tea parties, racing cars across the floor, or running around like a monster in hot pursuit.
A child development authority in the September issue of Baby Talk magazine says contantly playing with your tot is actually not the best idea. It's better that they also learn to imitate you and entertain themselves. I'm relieved, because I always worried that I didn't give my toddlers enough floor time.

To cindermarie05 and other moms whose hearts are breaking as they transition their tots back into day care or preschool or send them for the first time, I join other Toddler Moms who've been through it in saying DON'T WORRY. IT WILL GET BETTER. Really, it will.
This is hard to believe when you're standing there, screaming toddler clutching your leg begging you to take him with you, feeling like the worst, most heartless mother in the world. YOU WILL SURVIVE AND YOUR KIDS WILL BE FINE. I promise.
cindermarie05 said the first couple of days of day care were pretty good for her 3 year old daughter. But she's been having a hard time with separation anxiety lately.

Being sick and having to occupy a toddler all day is torturous. All you want to do is lie in bed, sleep, and be quiet, and your toddler wants to do the exact opposite: play, eat, and make noise.
Some moms in a Stay At Home Moms discussion say bed rest with a toddler is impossible. A pregnant mom put on bed rest had to have her husband take two weeks off to care for her and their toddler son.
But a few have pulled it off ... here's what worked for HybridMom27, on bed rest for three weeks for a kidney stone and later on in her pregnancy for preeclamsia, while still caring for her 2 year old son:

My 4 year old is either going to be a spy, magician, or cat when she grows up. She is so stealth and quiet -- so unlike my elephant footed boy -- that it just amazes me she's even human.
She loves to hide, and she knows it's a sure way to get a reaction. It was worse when she was younger, more petite. She'd wait till I turned my head or left the room for a few minutes, then wandered off to pick a spot to crawl in or under in the house, and bide the minutes until I'd start yelling and screaming to find her. Sometimes it took 20 minutes to snuff her down, often following offers of cookies or candy.
My daughter does this on purpose, but this is what almost gave one pregnant mom, LaceyN1121, a heart attack the other day:
