This recent news story about a toddler boy who helped his mom deliver his baby brother completely blows my mind.
I can't even get my 3-year old to sit up to the table for dinner, let alone assist in childbirth!

Oh, that 3-year-old Suri Cruise sure is cute, but she's already more fashionable than I can ever probably hope to be.
Now she's not just wearing heels, but she's hustling around NYC in heels and a hot pink mini carrying her own Starbucks. In these photos, she's even showing up her gorgeous mom Katie Holmes.
Is she auditioning for Tots and the City or something (sorry, dumb joke...I know...).

According to a large population-based study that appears in the October issue of The Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, researchers studying depression and anxiety disorder (DAS) are seeing early symptoms in very young children.

These days moms name their parenting styles the way women only used to name their political parties. And I get that. For the sake of discussion, you never know it you're a sitting Democrat walking into a room of Republicans. And you'd hate people to assume. It's nice to get it out in the open so there are no misconceptions. It also forces you move beyond these issues and find other kinds of commonalities.
But now that we let it all hang out — from where our child sleeps and what our child eats to whether or not we vaccinate and how we discipline — can it get in the way of friendships with other moms?
What do you think?

"Don't drive fast, Mommy, or you're going to get un-arrested!"
My toddler daughter (and my 6 year old son!) always mispronounce the word "arrested" by adding an "un-" to the beginning. I correct them, but it doesn't stick. And to tell the truth, I like the sound of their alternative penalty for speeding a lot better.
tnm786 in Just for Fun said her son always mispronounces color (cudder), green (beem), and his sister Savannah's name (sna-sna).
Here are some other funny toddler mispronounciations from the Answers thread:

I wonder if any of those companies that make baby-proofing supplies employ any 2 and 3 year old consultants on their quality control staffs, because they should. Most tots I know can bust in, click open, or scoot over many of those clever little gadgets that are supposed to keep children out, in, or away.
It took me about two hours to install what seemed like 25,000 white plastic cabinet locks in my kitchen ... and about 15 minutes for my son to crack the code: pull down over the little notch, swing open. Unfortunately, if they made them more difficult for toddlers, the parents wouldn't be able to open them, either.

For all the moms who are still waiting for your toddler to call you "mama," or have been emphasizing that you are not "Dada," don't worry. A lot of CafeMoms say their little ones -- boys especially -- didn't start using the word until they were close to 2.
"My boy is 19 months and just last week got it! It was like a light bulb went off in his head," says on mom. "I have been Mommy ever since. Be patient and calmly correct him when he calls you 'Dada.' He will get it eventually. I personally feel it is more special now that he calls me Mommy because everything and everyone was 'Dada,' but he has only called ME Mommy."

You could try the Paci Fairy, pretend that Elmo is having a baby and mail the binky to him, or even donate it to the zoo. You could also try this brilliant, no-tears suggestion from Toddler Mom cafemama ...
