Oh...what to do with the adorable crib set once baby outgrows it?
I recently came across this awesome idea from CafeMom sgr123 in the Susie Homemaker group.
This smart mom repurposed her daughter's baby bedding into pretty accents for her toddler-ized room.

I wonder if any of those companies that make baby-proofing supplies employ any 2 and 3 year old consultants on their quality control staffs, because they should. Most tots I know can bust in, click open, or scoot over many of those clever little gadgets that are supposed to keep children out, in, or away.
It took me about two hours to install what seemed like 25,000 white plastic cabinet locks in my kitchen ... and about 15 minutes for my son to crack the code: pull down over the little notch, swing open. Unfortunately, if they made them more difficult for toddlers, the parents wouldn't be able to open them, either.

Bumbo makes a good little baby seat, so is it safe to assume their new potty seat will be just as great?

You could try the Paci Fairy, pretend that Elmo is having a baby and mail the binky to him, or even donate it to the zoo. You could also try this brilliant, no-tears suggestion from Toddler Mom cafemama ...

I was jealous of a friend whose in-laws bought all their laundry soap, diapers and formula for them. Whenever the in-laws would come for a visit (about once a month), they'd stop at Costco on the way and load up.
With two kids and one income, the gesture made a big difference in their monthy bills -- diapers and formula are by far the most expensive baby items. I wished my own parents had helped us like that.
But my mom has been extremely generous in other ways. She loves to buy clothes for the kids, and does so every fall and spring for the change of seasons. And I let her, oh, boy, do I.

A mom in Toddler Moms was complaining that it's hard to find a good toddler size blanket for the crib. They are either too small (for babies) or too big (for big kids and adults).
A lot of moms use throws to cover their sleeping tots, but last weekend I came up with a great solution: I sewed four of my daughter's baby blankets together to make a bigger blanket.
These were the soft, cotton knit Carters blankets she had as a baby. They are the perfect weight for summer, and I often wished they'd come in a toddler size.

Pink Daisy Garden bedroom Pottery Barn Kids
When my daughter was born, we didn't have the time or the money to give her a proper nursery. We just threw her crib, an old dresser, and a used changing table in a former guest room.
To this day there's still nothing hanging on her walls. For the past four years, the poor thing has been looking at matronly floral curtains, a dull beige area rug, and a very un-girly back-and-white framed photo of the Civil War that we never managed to take down.

It's nearing the end of summer but you might have a few more trips to take before going back to the daily school grind. Here are some links I love that will help you deal with the craziness of traveling with a tot.
