CafeMom aurorabunny is back with another edition of Special Needs Living.
aurorabunny's 3-year old son Brody was diagnosed with classic autism at one year, falling on the severe side of the spectrum in terms of development. At present, Brody is still mostly nonverbal, using a few words, sign language, and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) to communicate.
Each week, aurorabunny discusses the everyday struggles and triumphs of raising a child with special needs and an invisible disability.

Swine flu vaccinations are well underway in most parts of the country for those who wish to get vaccinated.
Getting the vaccine is a personal choice. However, what about the people who care for your children? If you're pro-vaccination, will you recommend that your child care provider, babysitter, or nanny gets the swine flu vaccination as well? And what if she or he says no?

According to the new Nestlé Feeding Infants and Toddlers Study (FITS) just released at at the American Dietetic Association’s Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo, parents and caregivers are listening and following feeding guidance for infants; however, as children grow older, there is still much work to be done to help them build good eating habits.
I guess I'm not overly surprised by these findings; however, it's still pretty interesting.

The vaccine for swine flu or H1N1 is scheduled to arrive as early as tomorrow, Tuesday. As USA Today reports, "Kids under nine all require two doses of seasonal flu vaccine one month apart to get full protection the first time they are vaccinated, and the H1N1 vaccine adds two more shots. 'That means four pokes in a few months.'"
Are you getting the swine flu vaccine for your toddler?
Take our poll.
