Swine flu vaccinations are well underway in most parts of the country for those who wish to get vaccinated.
Getting the vaccine is a personal choice. However, what about the people who care for your children? If you're pro-vaccination, will you recommend that your child care provider, babysitter, or nanny gets the swine flu vaccination as well? And what if she or he says no?

momof2little1s and her family
Last summer, CafeMom momof2little1s personally endured a swine flu horror story at 34 weeks pregnant. Although, she and her now four-month old daughter Molly are fine today, they both survived a flu-driven nightmare no family ever wants to face.
So momof2little1s is here today to share her story and talk about her decision to get her two toddler daughters the swine flu vaccination.

Today, October 15th, is Global Handwashing Day, which encourages children to clean their hands with soap. Yay, handwashing! With soap!
Let the Wiggles show your kids the importance of getting those hands clean.

The vaccine for swine flu or H1N1 is scheduled to arrive as early as tomorrow, Tuesday. As USA Today reports, "Kids under nine all require two doses of seasonal flu vaccine one month apart to get full protection the first time they are vaccinated, and the H1N1 vaccine adds two more shots. 'That means four pokes in a few months.'"
Are you getting the swine flu vaccine for your toddler?
Take our poll.

I'm thinking something right now that I shouldn't, but with my kids heading back to school tomorrow, I can't help it:
"I can't remember the last time my childen were really sick."
There, I've said it. And now that I have, I know I'm doomed. A fever or sniffles will be waiting for me when I walk in the door. It's always the way.
Yet, I find it miraculous how long a stretch my kids can go without getting sick. You start to think they are done will illness forever. Then, just a few days into the school year ... bam! My little picture of health collapses into a ball of misery on the couch, refusing to eat or sleep ... and my husband and I are left scrambling to find child care.

Moms of kids starting preschool or kindergarten for the first time this year have enough to worry about -- what to pack for lunch, adjusting to the new schedule, making sure their kids like their teachers and are making friends.
What a shame that some of these moms, just days into the new school year, are already dealing with the flu!
"My daughter started kindergarten on Monday in a pre-K through 1st grade school," says one CafeMom. "I just got a call from the school automatic call system to make us aware that they have three confimed cases of Swine Flu! I'm suppossed to get more info sent home with her today, but this has me freaked out ...

Swine flu party, anyone? R.S.V.P here.
I've heard of chicken pox parties, but my husband just told me that some people are having swine flu parties.

Concluding that the swine flu isn't any more serious than the seasonal flu, the CDC yesterday decided that day care centers and schools do not have to close if a child comes down with H1N1.
This is good news for me. My husband and I had talked about the possibility of our tots getting an unexpected vacation from preschool and kindergarten and were at a total loss for how we would juggle our work schedules to care for them.
Previously, health officials recommended that schools and centers close for two weeks following a flu outbreak in just one child. About 725 public and non public schools were closed yesterday for flu-related reasons in 24 states and the District of Columbia.
That's hundreds of thousands of kiddos watching TV, cramming the public libraries, hanging out on street corners -- for only over 400 cases of swine flu cases in the US ( though hundreds more are still probable). Thank you, CDC!

I don't know anyone with swine flu, and I hope that continues, but some of the realities are hitting a little too close to home lately.
First, the guy wearing the surgical mask on the train the other day -- should we all really start doing that? Then, the sign that went up on the door of my daughter's preschool room yesterday: "All children must wash their hands before entering the classroom." A really good idea, I might add.
And just today the father on the subway scolding his 2 year old for rubbing his eyes, "Jason, please don't do that. That's not a good idea at all!" Geez, any other time most parents wouldn't blink at something like that.
