The first holiday toy catalog arrived in the mail last week. My boys buried their noses deep inside and started wishing and dreaming.
I felt a little overwhelmed, since Halloween hadn't even occurred yet; however, I tried to breathe and remember how fun thumbing through toy catalogs was when I was a kid.
Some of you shared similar toy catalog memories...

I do love a cardboard playhouse (not an $89 cardboard playhouse, mind you...), and this new Color Me House and Color Me Rocket can turn into hours and hours of good creative fun for toddlers. Plus, it's low impact on the planet when they're done...

In The CafeMom Newcomers Club, CafeMom grammarpolice is asking Should I or shouldn't I? in regard to regifting a child's gift.
If your kid has ever had a big birthday party or you have a big family, you know how it goes. Your child is bound to get a nonreturnable toy, book, or other gift your child already has, that doesn't fit, or otherwise.
So is it ever okay to regift the gift to another child? Take our poll.

Neither of my kids really attached to a stuffed animal toy. Do your kids have a favorite?

"He's really into gun play," said one of Leo's preschool teachers when she pulled me aside a few weeks ago. She wasn't freaked out or coming down on my parenting. It's just a school rule: No gun play.
I wasn't all that freaked out, and sadly, I wasn't the least bit shocked either.

My almost-three-year old loves little play activities that involve organizing, arranging, and putting things together. This play food, handmade by a few CafeMoms, would be good fun for him.

Photo from Crazyoleez
I love these psychedelic Crazyoleez crayons—they come in all kinds of fun shapes (letters, butterflies, flowers, animals, and more) and a fusion of colors and they were created by five moms (Amy, Becky, Debbie, Kelly, and Shelley) who "can’t stand a mess— lose the scattered, rolling crayons, you now have one!"
Liz at Cool Mom Picks had the great idea of using these as party favors (pumpkins for Halloween; holiday shapes for Christmas).
They range in price fro $3 to $8 depending on the size and number you get; at Go Crazyoleez.

Congratulations to mdehn, the winner of the block set. We're always giving away fun stuff in Daily Buzz, so check back here often.
If I was forced to throw away all of my toddler's toys except one, I'd vote to keep the wooden blocks. Three words: Hours of imagination.
So, she doesn't know it yet, but these awesome Tegu Wooden Blocks with magnets inside them, allowing for countless different formations and constructions, are totally going on her Santa list.
Try your hand at winning the big 52-piece Tegu Wooden Block set in lovely European birch today. It retails for $85 online and they are extremely popular, so this would be a major score with the holidays coming up.
Here's how you enter, by answering the easiest contest question ever: What is your toddler's favorite toy? Tell me in comments.

Can you find the sleeping child in the photo?
Oh, yes, there she is ... to the left of Mickey Mouse and due south of Pink Pig. And I think she's being kissed by Mr. Brown Bear over in the upper left corner.
This little girl is a year old. My daughter is 4 and I allow her two stuffed animals with her in her toddler bed at night.

CafeMom JrsMommy07 wants her 2 1/2 year old son to learn to share his toys with playmates that come over ... just not the handmade one-of-a-kind rocking horse that was a gift from his grandparents. Her friend's children are rough on toys, so she's been putting the pony away when they come over to visit.
But does this teach her son a bad lesson?
Toddler Mom group members don't think so. They also hide toys from their child's playmates all the time.
