How often do you make hot breakfast?

For the last several months I've been making a hot breakfast almost every day...in part because I'm pregnant and love breakfast foods. I used to think it took too long and I rarely did, but I just made ham, eggs, and a bagel with cream cheese in less than 5 mins...so knowing how much better it sounds than cereal or yogurt...mmmm. Since I share with my daughter who doesn't eat much, it doesn't cost much either. 3 eggs, half a bagel, half of a small ham steak that comes 2 to a package for $3...the meal was probably $1.25 total for 2 people. Not bad! Yay for breakfast!!

I'm really quite upset that I didn't figure out how easy breakfast was until this pregnancy! lol...I've been screwing myself out of good food!

  • It is soo much cheaper! And sometimes I make enough pancakes to store leftovers then my husband can just pull them outta the fteezer and warm them up before he has to go to work!

  • I have been making a lot more hot breakfasts since the prices of cereal went up and they started making those "family size" boxes wider and smaller. Sorry, can't bring myself to pay 5.00 a box for 20 oz of cereal that will be gone in 2 days in my house!

So, I have been making eggs and toast, or pancakes, or breakfast burritos, etc. And my family loves it. And it cuts out all that unnecc. sugar!! And, now that I have been doing it, it does seem so easy to do-cereal seems like a waste altogether.

  • Since the beginning of my pregnancy like 5 a week! And it really does turn out cheaper than the cereals generally! We've got our own chickens so eggs are free too, it's great.

  • lol...I'm actually hoping I go back to the "coffee breakfasts" to maybe lose some weight after I have this baby! I don't know though, I seem to stay full longer with all the extra protein in the morning...and I don't want to end up caffeinating the baby through my milk! lol

  • We were just discussing this today. We used to go out for breakfast once a week, buf for the same $20 I can have the good stuff everyday! And I know exactly what I'm eating.

Oh, and don't go back to coffee breakfasts, Kabbot, It won't help. Women who eat lean protein, like eggs, eat about 20% less during the day, and weigh less.

  • On the weekends for sure. On the week days, not as much. I eat a late brunch and DH eats breakfast at work.
